this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Wow Danno I agree with that 100%. But since that sounds like the contract Master P got for Ricky Williams here, I don\'t think the \"great\" qb AB would sign it. Great idea though....

Brooks looking for a new deal?
Why don\'t we pay him in scratchoff tickets, he might get his raise that way. :rollinglaugh:
He needs to prove himself first. He can be good but he\'s to inconsistant. |

Brooks looking for a new deal?
Brooks has had an off year. There\'s no doubt about it. A lot of it due to playing behind one of the worst O-lines in the league. And he\'s had no running game. There\'s no denying that and if you do ... Then there\'s no use debating this.
On the other hand, Brooks has tried to do too much and made some bone-headed mistakes. Brooks might still lead us to the playoffs and beyond. Most of you wrote Brooks and this team off long ago. So, if you were wrong about that, then I have a hard time believing you now. Some of you want Brooks gone and that\'s fine. But, who are we going to replace him with? This ain\'t fantasy football. Just ask Bill Parcells. Who is his starting QB? |

Brooks looking for a new deal?
It could be structured to pay AB good money regardless of the incentives. Rickey didn\'t have that. If Aaron plays great, he gets major compensation, if he plays bad he still gets paid pretty good, just not great. |

Brooks looking for a new deal?
I asked elsewhere Gumbo but never got an answer so i\'ll ask here again, if this year is an off year cause of EVERYTHING besides Brooks, what happened with the fumbles last year? And the INTS the two years prior? Were those off years too, or was he \"on\" in those years? If he was \"on\" then, I truly shudder to think how bad we will be.
And what happened in the Dallas game? None of your \"reasons\" for Brooks struggling happened and he was still terrible. Did he just have a \"bad game?\" How do we know that is not always gonna be typical of Brooks? And why does he get the benefit of so many just \"bad games\" when if anyone esle around him has one they are responsible for his ineptitude? If you are gonna argue a point, at least show you can see both sides clearly. If you look back, I lauded Brooks after the Rams game cause I was truly impressed by his performance. No game since then has given me a reason to celebrate him as our qb. But back to your \"everyone else is killing Brooks\" theory. He led the league in turnovers last year and we had one of the best running games in the league. Thoughts? In 2001, he had a passer rating under 80(under 80!!!!!!!) with 22 INTs. Thoughts? In 2002, he had a passer rating of barely 80, 15 INTs. Thoughts? Since everyone is letting him down THIS YEAR, why didn\'t we make the playoffs all those other years when our defense wasn\'t great, but it wasn\'t last in the league either? When our running game was one of the best in the league? Any reasons for those? And I am giving you facts that can be looked up on NFL.com, not mere speculation. Thoguhts? |

Brooks looking for a new deal?
I see what you are sayign Danno, and still agree. If we tie the contract into his actual performances, but also penalize for bone-headed mistakes(if that\'s possible), Broosk can actually earn his salary instead of saying \"I\'m a top 5 qb\" and getting a new salary without an ounce of evidence to back that up.

Brooks looking for a new deal?
Brooks has made some knucklehead plays this year(at Chargers, Denver, etc) but he has also shown some signs of leadership. I don\'t think brooks is a Montana like QB but I do think he is very good. His contract should be a reflection of his performance(Ricky Williams first year deal)....
I think our O-line is garbage but I still cheer for them as well as deuce, horn and the rest of the boys. Bottom line is we have a 3 game winning streak in December with a playoff birth in the picture.....DO WE CHEER FOR THAT????.........Brooks is not God but he is my guy..... :casstet: |

Brooks looking for a new deal?
saintswhodi
Brooks is going to make mistakes every year. Listen up though. SO DOES JUST ABOUT EVERY OTHER QB IN THE LEAGUE. How many interceptions has Delhomme thrown this year. I think it\'s one less than Brooks. And both of their teams have the same record. Does Delhomme get a free pass here. And what about Mr. Favre, who has thrown more ints than Brooks. And Favre does it just about every year. Brooks corrected the fumbling for which he gets no credit. I don\'t think Brooks would have made all the ints if it weren\'t for the terrible O-line play. Hell, Favre and Delhomme have NO excuses for thier mistakes. I think you just want Brooks gone and you don\'t want to look at the facts. |
