Brooks looking for a new deal?
Just an observation here.
It would be so much easier to defend Brooks if he never opened his mouth. By the way, Brooks is scheduled to make 5.5 million next year, 6.25 million in \'06 and 7.25 million in \'07. I don\'t think anyone can seriously suggest he isn\'t being VERY well compensated for what he is putting on the field. http://www.nflpa.org/Members/playerProfile.asp?ID=27122 My gut feeling is that Brooks is very competative in things like money, status and prestige. It feels like a sense of entitlement based on what he says. I wonder if since cousin Vick just broke the bank with a mega-deal in Atlanta and other QB\'s in the same draft class (Culpepper, McNabb) have also gotten mega deals, if Brooks doesn\'t feel entitled to a comparable deal in New Orleans. I just wish he were more competative about winning and less competative about money. |

Brooks looking for a new deal?
Also, has Favre led his team to a Superbowl? Does it seem like his team rallies around him even when he makes a mistake unlike Brooks? How many of the past 4 years has Favre\'s teams been in the playoffs, and how many have AB\'s? That should be an easy one. Can you also please stop bringing up Delhomme? I think you are doing it so debates will be shutdown. You have been told they don\'t want it here, yet you continually do it. Maybe cause there is no basis for what you are saying besides the fact that you like AB and will defend everyone one of his errors since he has been a Saint by blaming everyone else around him. I am not gonna touch the Delhomme thing cause I will not be the reason this thread is stopped. |

I have a hard time debating this with you because I see NO objectivity in your arguement. You point to all the bad and NONE of the positives. For example: Brooks has cut down on his interceptions every year he\'s been in the league. Except this one, but I believe that\'s because he\'s had NO blocking and NO running game. Does no blocking orrunning game not enter into the equasion here? Or do you just want to pin everything on Brooks. Dude, no resonable person is going to buy that. You want me to forget the FACT that our O-line is terrible and we don\'t have a running game? You don\'t think that\'s affected Brooks? It sure as hell affected Deuce. I\'m not patting Brooks on the back and telling him he\'s had a probowl season but I\'m looking at this thing with some objectivity. Unlike you, I realize there\'s more to QB play than the guy that lines up under the center. You do understand that right? Cause it sure seems like you don\'t understand. Brooks looking for a new deal?
What does this year\'s o-line have to do with the previous years? And why do you keep avoiding discussing the previous years? I\'ll pose the question again, when Brooks had a below 80 passer rating in 2001, and a rating of just 80 in 2002 and led the league in turnovers in 2003 and we weren\'t making the playoffs, what was his excuses then? Are you saying a weak running game, cause we were among the best in the league. I am having trouble following you. You are taking a fault of the team from this one year and trying to use it to justify all those other years of terrible play from Brooks, and it ain\'t flying.
And you say you see no objectivity from me? What about this?
But just to make it clear what I am mainly asking, how does bad line play THIS YEAR, and lack of a running game THIS YEAR(even though Deuce is on pace for 1000 yards), justify Brooks\' bad play from THE LAST 3 YEARS? Can you explain that to me? Unless you think a passer rating of 80 or below and leading the league in turnovers is acceptable, then I truly see where you are coming from. |

And just so we are clear, \"Brooks is having an off year because of the o-line and no running game,\" is not in the least bit objective. It takes all the blame off of Brooks, when he has a prior history of being bad already.
Objectivity would be, \"I know our o-line and running game have been sub-par this year, but at least some of the blame for Brooks\' poor season has to be on him also. He has had a history of mistakes and has made some choices this year thatare just baffling.\" That\'s objectivity. Places the blame on o-line, but doesn\'t give Brooks a free pass. Now show me where you have said this or something similar, since I am not objective. And all qbs make mistakes once again takes the blame off of Brooks so that ain\'t flying either. 2000 Brooks led the Saints to its 1st playoff victory in history 2001 was Brooks first year as the starting QB. 2002 Brooks was hurt for the last 3 or 4 games. 2003 Brooks threw 24TDs and a league low 8ints. Every year Brooks has improved but this one. You want to point to the mistakes and not look at the WHOLE picture. And he\'s been playing on a team with the worst defense, year end and year out. And our receivers have a history of having the droppsies. Now, the O-line can\'t block. There\'s a bunch of negatives Brooks is reponsible for. Like the fumbling. That was all on Brooks. But, hey, he\'s corrected that. This year has NOTHING to do with the previous years. And if you want to go back to the previous years and point out ALL of the negatives then I\'ll just point out all of the posititves. Believe me, there\'s plenty of positives. Either you believe our O-line has hurt Brooks our you don\'t. If you don\'t think so you are in a very small group of folks who think that. You make it sound like Brooks has been a total failure since he\'s been a Saint. Have you ever looked around Brooks and seen the less than stellar play of the other players. Cause believe me, they have a lot to do with the performace or Brooks and a lot of other players on the team. I don\'t know if you just don\'t understand that, or you don\'t want to. Whatever the reason, I ain\'t buying it. |

Brooks looking for a new deal?
Has Joe Horn been to the pro bowl since Brooks has been here? Has Deuce? Has LeCharles? Obviously some players around Brooks are doing their jobs huh?
And you know the one positive I wanna here about Brooks? Wins. Plain and simple. Where are they? Dallas went to the playoffs with Quincy Carter. The Chiefs went with a worse defense than ours(we were 18 in the league last year). The Colts are going with a terrible defense this year. So we can lay it all on the D, but there are lesser qbs that have gone and teams with defenses just as bad (and last year worse) that made the playoffs. Brooks is about a .500 qb, at best even in the best of circumstances. I\'ll just say it must feel good to be satisfied with medioctriy, cause I never am. Takes a lot of pressure off if .500 earns you the right to not get criticized. If more people in the media even outside of New Orleans had those same feelings about Brooks, I could see where he could CALL HIMSELF a top 5 qb and never have to play like it. Seems to fly just fine for Gumbo. |
