Turn-over prone Drew Brees can turn around season

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; He is covering saints for The New Orleans Advocate. One of the rare "Saints" guys that actually watches the game tape and doesn't have random stupid opinions (that look like posts of some drunk blackandgold members lol) unlike other saints ...

WOW, pressure on 40% of his drop backs? Yeh, it's definitely Brees that is the problem (WTF).
Brees when given time can thread the needle into quadruple coverage.
There were plenty of mistakes made on both sides of the ball that resulted in the loss. Team Loss.

Re: Turn-over prone Drew Brees can turn around season

Just watched the game from the weekend and this was clearly a team loss.

Yes Brews threw and early pick which ultimately resulted in TD but the D was horrible during SF's first (and second) drive. We are so leaky and allow plenty of yards from Gore.

Also doesn't help when Stills dropped and easy catch to make it a first down with our second drive and Colston dropping beautifully weighted 40 odd yard pass which would have resulted in a TD in the 2nd quarter. But then Colston gets the all important 1st down at 4th and 2 late in the last quarter.

The pick Brees threw right at the end of the 2nd half was almost unavoidable. He had no options. The best result there was an out of bounds and a field goal as they wasted a heap of time prior to that play.

What frustrates me is we had that game. Niners 4th and 15 (iirc) and Kaep finds a target 20 out. But it isn't what happens at one stage of the game that gets a result it's what happens in its entirety and both our offence and defence were not good enough over the course of the whole game.

High time we geaux the way the Broncos did late in Elway's career and just hand the ball off and let Roll Tide just truck and complement with the pass to keep the opposition from stacking 8 in the box...

Brees, at this point in his career, is struggling to consistently deliver the ball on the throws (opposite field, deep posts) that require a stronger, younger arm...

I actually agree with most of your points. I'm the first to say I've been guilty of that in the past but as I've watched this season I've noticed brees won't be the sole reason we win or the sole reason we lose regardless of the size of his paycheck. Plus, unlike some qb's he's actually come out in the media and taken all the responsibility for a couple of losses even though it wasn't all him. He even said he agreed with the crowd booing him for throwing the pick before halftime. How many other qb's would've lashed out at the fans for booing.

I'm just saying, we should stop thinking brees or any player is the reason we won or the reason we lost. If we try to get rid of players that "cost us the game" every week we won't have any players left.
