Prior to Palmer being out, I pegged this one as a Lions' road loss, but Stanton being in there tilts the scales against the Cards the rest of the way. He's great for a game or two but has a hard time putting together a longer stretch.

Like the Cardinals team, really do...
I expect Cardinals will collapse with Stanton at Quarterback... That said, they've got the best coach in football right now in Bruce Arians... I wouldn't bet against Bruce Arians... |

Re: Should the cards hang on and take the 1 seed
Yeah, IDK too much about Arians but I did kinda' expect ARI to finish with the #1 seed ... DET has a history of losing when they travel there as well. They got two solid corners in Peterson/Cromartie and Fitzgerald is always a force to be reckoned with ... plus home-cooking spells "disaster" for DET ... except now you insert Drew Stanton, ... I've seen plenty of him at Michigan State and as a Lions backup ... I just don't think he has enough juice to take 'em all they way to a #1 seed ... though I guess I wouldn't mind it with his Michigan connections & all, .

Carolina has a better chance than ATL of stringing enough wins. They have 3 home and 3 road:
Falcons Vickings Saints Bucs Browns Falcons Not exactly a difficult stretch. |

As long as we win out the rest of the way then I'll feel good about our SB chances. If we don't win out...........well, it will be a long off season.

It is just not likely to happen. And this game will be on television for me too.
If it did happen it will because of the receivers they have. Which is why the saints are going to have to run the ball and get Graham involved. |

Lions-On the road their defense may not be as good. Ellington also can exploit the lions weakness against the screen. Cards also have a receiver lions won't be thinking about covering which is John Brown because then they run the risk of Fitzgerald or Floyd burning them. The cards secondary is not great but Stafford only throws to Calvin and Tate really. The real target against the cards is the tightend but lions don't utilize this much. Cards can stop the run also and thats trouble for a committee that looks bad so far. @Seattle-I see this as loss clearly. @Atlanta-Hmm. I think they lose but cards defense has owned Ryan bad. Also Ellington killed them last year and has a chance to do so again. KC-Because of who the QB is, I think cards can pull this out. This is a good run defense against a run first offense. KC lately has allowed more rushing yards than usual so Ellington might get something off the ground. Also KC and their secondary will be focusing on Floyd and Fitz leaving Brown open. The downside for cards here is Kelce against their biggest defensive weakness. @StL-The team really has nothing to play for. But short rest assuming cards beat KC I give the rams this one. But cards have better talent on key offensive positions. Seattle-The game is at home. Seattle usually has trouble once a year with them. It could be this game. Also, Seattle has lost in SD and St.Louis this year. @SF-They beat SF week 3 with this qb and SF hasn't shown to be any better at home than on the road either. If cards have a bye and division title riding on this they could win. Even if they lose the next three, they could win three of the last four. That is still 11-5 and the division. |

You guys talk about losing the last three games by nine pts? The Lions have won the last three by 6, not exactly the mark of a dominant team. The first thing that popped into my head after that game was that DET would be a wildcard heading to the Dome in the first round & the results would probably differ. The biggest difference between a potential matchup this postseason and 2011 are the additions of Golden Tate, Glover Quin, James Ihedigbo & a few other veterans/coaches, so lack of playoff experience may not be as big an issue as one may think. It's all about Drew Brees, IMO.
"Never get too high, never get too low" ~ Jim Caldwell, H/C Detroit Lions ... first time I've ever seriously quoted a Detroit Lions coach, . If anything, that's all I wanted to get across to you guys in that game. |
