SAINTS BLOWN OUT AT HOME BY CAROLINA 41-10

1 Attachment(s)
The Saints have again pulled in one of the worst performances in the Sean Payton era, after a big win the previous week, by losing 41-10 to the Carolina panthers. The Saints looked lethargic, inconsistent, and played it's most uninspired home game since 2003 when the Saints lost to Payton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts at home in a 55-21 blowout.

Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com wrote:
Quote:

The Saints have lost their share of games this season but rarely have they been embarrassed. Considering the stakes and the opponent, it was the worst performance of the Sean Payton-Drew Brees era. The Saints talk about team wins a lot. This was a team loss, a complete collapse in all phases: offense, defense and coaching.

Heard parts of Payton's post game presser.

He was adamant that changes will happen.

I'm eager to see exactly how responds.

Changes will happen -

He'll pass on 3rd and 2 instead of running.

Just words! You can just imagine what he really wanted to say.
Can't imagine how embarrassing that had to have been.

Not if we beat Atlanta and players/coaches start doing their jobs.

that was one of the worse out puts i have seen from the saints in years. and i mean years.

I said the were showing a attitude on the field? well an end zone brawl was the most i saw today,

I gave Rob props for doing a good job too but today i have to say it was one of the worse coaching i have seen again in years. 3 TD scored on the same defensive set? what the? spread defense set the ravens ran us into the ground again was called over and over again.

I could go on but once again a complete lack of adjustments

Drop passes like we were going for a NFL record?

last drive just stopped playing the last minute? rolled over and surrendered? whats with this SP?

sorry this was a melt down team wide. Coaches just gave up.

as a fan i have not been this sick in i can not remember how long. actually this might be the in there as a top 5 all time :censored:?

If the O line can't block, then yes - he'll pass.

Since you brought it up - did you notice how much pressure Carolina got with only 4 guys? All day long.....

Can't cut the kicker this year, he's like 18 for 20.

At the very least, Ryan and the entire defensvie coaching staff need to go. McMahon too.

Don't come in here with that. We ran on 3rd and short and got stuffed. We did come back with a run on 4th and got it. Take shots at the offense as they surely deserve though.

Carolina whipped us in showboating and embarrassing fashion to take a 2 game lead in the all time series.

Playing for draft slotting. No way we need to make the playoffs at 8-8 and lose 15 slots or whatever it is in the draft process. Too bad we can't get a 4th place schedule out of this crap fest of a season.

Play some new blood that actually has some energy. We come out dead as can be with no emotion. Got whipped today by a bunch of no names who had pride.

Please. PayLoo make their money in the later rounds and UDFA. Our track record in the first round is spotty at best. Go for the playoffs and hope the team the routed the Packers or beat the Steelers shows up.

But what I wanna know is what bad juju Ryan brings to teams to knock out half the starting players. Where was the scrappy genius of last year, it's all so bland and predictable this year.

look THE NFL figured out this defense last year in Foxboro. Pats laid the blue prints and the others followed suit.

Then you gut your veterans. your leaders. then make no real adjustments to the scheme your running?

blow the entire 2014 defensive draft?

I am still not crazy about 2013 either. with out the Vets Kenny aint looking so good.

2014 has proven to be one of the worse off season by the saints in oh many years in so many ways.

well 2015 is another year and maybe some lesson were learned for some players and they can grow from this.

till then off to the great white white north to roll in the snow with the cubs

They are their own worse enemy. Starting the game with 2 turnovers is so insane. Giving Carolina that much confidence is so insane. Loosing 4 games at home is insane. Winning on the road against a team with a winning record is insane.

This was the worse game I've seen in the SP/Brees Era. There's been bad ones, but this one was the worst.

It was like watching a Haslett/Brooks Era game, to be honest. Undisciplined, unmotivated & out-of-sync on both sides of the ball.

And if any game has highlighted the need to address the ability to consistently stop the run to win ball games, this one was it. You cannot let a team run at will throughout a ballgame to win. Period. Figured the SF, Bengals & Baltimore games should have hammered that fact home by now.

His change will be going to kfc before the game rather than Popeyes...

The things that need to change take years to build... the lines on both sides of the ball.

Actions speak louder than words-----we'll see who actually is held accountable/pays the piper. Either Payton does it, or Loomis. It will be interesting to see. If after watching the game tape, Payton's not repulsed enough to the drop the hammer (or make changes) then he needs to pay the piper.

I agree it does take years to build. But a good draft and a couple FA next year along with a trade or 2 we could be in good shape, at least stong. Then we could see if Brees is Brees or not. If we could trade right, I would resign Ingram, he produced this year, can't say that for alot of the other players. Very spotty at time if any. Bunkley needs to go for sure.

Don't think we need a ton of changes...

New Center, new Guards, a pair of mean DTs that push the pocket, a decent #2 CB, a new ILB not named Hawthorne, and lastly new positional coaches across the board.

Guess that's not to much to ask for right?

lol

lol

C - Lelito
G - both can play another year or two with Lelito at center
DT - agree 100% that we need ONE more
CB #2 - agree 100%
ILB - agree 100% we need ONE more

Coaches - not all need to go.

So that's an impact DT and ILB to go along with CB. Totally do-able.

Forgot you were the end-all-be-all of saints fans, my bad, ill just take your opinion for fact because you say so... :p

Lelito is good enough at center but you're overvaluing our Guards, both have let age catch them and as the season has gone on they look a few steps away from retirement.

Don't think he should be playing either Danno... it's a shame but Byrd and Bush should be the starters next year. KV might be good at the NB spot if he is lucky. This year has changed my opinion of him. The only thing he has going for him is heart, he is not one to give up.

Both can play another year. That's not overvaluing that's stating that a better center will make their jobs easier.

Yeah, me, too (eager). I really believe he's going to make some big changes now. No paralysis by analysis.

Think it's silly to "wait" and then immediately fire people after the last game.

I think a coach/more are gone, some starters will become backups , and we find some off the street or off another team's practice squad. I'm excited to see if we find anything that works (like it looks as if we have with our brand-new PR Sanders).

Kind of glad our weaknesses got exposed all at once. Caused a mindshift in Payton. The press conference made me eager to see a change. Now I don't have to wait hopelessly for the draft and off-season.

What happens when Armstead goes out? We've Undrafted FA and lo-round draft picks as all our OL 2nd string. We've other teams' cast-offs, UFAs, and lo-round draft picks at LB. Can't run nor stop the run. Gee, wonder why? Thinking Payton/Loomis will finally draft accordingly.

Special Teams needed a new coach long ago. Hope McMahon finally goes. Reminds me of the OC under Mora who Mora would just never fire.

LB coach Vitt needs to go. Weak LB corps for a while and no recent improvement in any individual players I can think of.

Don't know enough about the DL or secondary coaches. Haven't decided on RR.

Whoever made the picks in this year's 2nd round (CB Baptise) 4th round (LB Fortt since released by 2 teams) and 6th (OT Rook) should be replaced.

Agree. Finally I believe Payton/Loomis will get that everyone has now figured out how to beat us. It's the same as it's been for a while: just run and don't forget to run right up the middle.

Where most every team in football has a defense that will consistently turn an unimaginative run up the middle into "3 yards and a cloud of dust," we can be counted on to gift multiple surprise long runs if teams will just continue to run and not panic if Bree puts them well behind us. Then, don't worry, you'll catch up.

Whether it's mis-tackles, LBs with terrible instincts who run right into the trash, slow or too small LBs, a lack of a big/run-stuffing NT (until recently)...well, it just doesn't matter which question it is for that season, the answer is run on us.

Agree, except I'd keep Jahri Evans and maybe even Grubbs. Don't watch enough tape to know, but I've seen Evens do some good things still.

Don't know why we don't move Lelito back to starter. We did better when he was starting, especially the run game plus he's apparently "the future" (or at least our backup for Center and both Guards).

We so need another ILB...2, in my opinion and at least 1 in most others' opinions.

I'd like a #2 CB and move Robinson to nickel covering the slot, if we keep him at all given a good price. He's gotten better the last few games, I think. White is a good backup or dime for a recent 5th rounder, I think.

I think losing Jenkins and maybe Harper hurt more than we thought, too.

41 had starters around him Vaccaro is surrounded by backups, rookies and practice squad players.

While that may account for him being out of position it surely doesn't excuse the way he tackles like a bouncy ball.
