I was just about to post this. While he did make plays, man he took quit a few plays off.

1. Shaq Thompson
2. Bernaderick McKinney
3. Vic Beasley
4. Trea Waynes

Assuming Shane Ray and Leonard Williams are gone. Anyone of these ill be happy.

Re: Dante Fowler or Bernardrick McKinney

I can not shake Trea Waynes as the pick to make the most impact on the defense in year one, i like the way he plays. i watch a lot of big ten and for two years in row this guy just is steady as a rock. does not use his hands to cover either, IMO that is huge with all the rule changes. best feet in the draft.

next is Kevin Johnson out wake forest. another CB that knows how to cover with out his hands

After Trea Waynes i have to go OT as the best picks on the board that are proven commodities IMO.

all the others make me a bit nervous. one year wonders and/or injury history. I hear the word foot with a WR and i always pause.

I still am not understanding all the love for a OLB to rush, we need help in the middle our OLB are good enough although JR needs to get better at setting the edge. A NT and ILB are needed way more than 1 trick pony's.I would take McKinny over the other guy but he isn't my first choice at ILB not saying if we drafted him that I would hate it but Miami has a stud ILB just sitting there getting no love at all.
K Major and brees84 like this.

Hey Halloween, I agree with you completely however the OP asked which player you would rather take. I too think the Perryman from UM (Univ of Miami) will become a better pro and is actually better than McKinney in pass coverage at this stage of their respected careers. In some scouting reports, Perryman is rated top LB in the country.

I'm definitely not sleeping on Denzel Perryman from the U.

Re: Dante Fowler or Bernardrick McKinney

What we'd like about McKinney is that the man was a 3-star QB out of high school with 1 offer (My Cow College).

In other words, he was passed over coming out of high school but ended up being a 2nd Team All-SEC Linebacker and a projected 2nd Round NFL Draft Pick...you would think Coach Payton likes players that worked hard in college to get where he's at and with chips on their shoulders. If he stayed for his senior year, he'd be an All-American 2015...Saints need to catch him early. If y'all can't tell, I'm a bit biased.

He worked his tail off to learn how to play ILB & sculpt that body but still maintain the speed & power. Great work ethic...sign him up. Extra bonus if we can get him in the 2nd.

While we're at it at LB'er, let's grab Bama ILB'er Trey DePriest in the later rounds...smart & fundamentally sound player though not the fastest, but I like him. If Bama's Ragland declares for the draft, we gotta get him in the middle rounds...no question. Load'em up on that Front 7 and get after Scam Newton & their RB's if we're serious about getting this division back.

I ain't joking, because our middle linebackers were small, slow & were exposed all year. They were the joke of this 2014 defense...all except Lofton, that is.

I watched Ragland as careful as I could , I feel he needs to stay in school for another year, he was exposed a little to much for my liking during the Ohio State game not saying he's bad but another year at Bama would do him well just a little to raw.

Re: Dante Fowler or Bernardrick McKinney

Oh, forgot...McKinney was a Freshman All-American LB'er. Been at it for 3 years. Not a "Project Pick"...Battle-Tested.

Re: Dante Fowler or Bernardrick McKinney

Jut because someone did not work out from the big 12 does not mean thats the case withe the SEC. The SEC isn't winning the title this year but the conference still gets the recruits and provides NFL level talent that when someone plays well against them it should stand out.

I mean Vacarro is not bad but he is not a game changer and that should be because looking back that was a weak draft class and Texas guys just don't translate well in the pros. No I would not pass on McKinnley. Not at all.

OSU has a HC that won two titles in the SEC and beat Saban in his first championship caliber season back in college. There is appearing to be a difference in work ethic and all with OSU that was not there when Tressell was there.
