this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I think Hawthorne got a one year deal. Grubbs and Bunkley need to give money back and then retire....

Re: Burning Questions: Cap Casualties?
We'll keep most of them at a reduced price or a restructure.
This is the best cap shape we've been in for a few years now. We may even target a FA stud. |

We targeted and landed one last season when all the media clowns reported the Saints were in cap "hell" so who knows what rabbit Loomis will pull out his hat this time around

Re: Burning Questions: Cap Casualties?
Pay cuts and cuts all around... I don't see where anyone on this list deserves to not take a pay cut or be released....
Bunkley and Hawthorne can be released. Grubbs can be released if he doesn't take a pay cut |

I agree on Grubbs, he's been a disappointment since day 1

Re: Burning Questions: Cap Casualties?
Agreed, we didn't want to shell out the money to pay Carl Nicks and now its come back to bite us
Everyone preaches the "we need to protect Brees better" points, yet we let the guy that was arguably the best young Guard in the league walk. You'll notice Ben Grubbs on most plays, he's the one laying on his back after getting bull rushed. |

We didn't just let him walk. |

Re: Burning Questions: Cap Casualties?
Deep draft. Almost anyone can have the production of Grubbs, Evans, Watson and Colston did last season. I understand wanting to keep them, but they're just not worth the money. None of them are going to catch the fountain of youth either. Fix the cap and move on.

Re: Burning Questions: Cap Casualties?
Evans and Colston can stay at a cheaper rate since this team needs some veteran leadership but I wouldn't mind seeing the Saints draft some talented players to replace some of this overpaid dead weight on the team
