i still like the way the pats do things. let solid players walk that want to much money. sign some mid level free agents with a proven track record and put the savings in the bank.
a accumulate picks to address depth upgrades when the core is reestablished then go out and spend the big bucks on solid impact players they do not let the team be held hostage by just a few players. get the depth first let replaceable players walk as fa and get the comp picks get mid level fa to fill the gaps the bench can not draft to replenish the depth then bang FA they plan this out better than any team in the nfl. |

On the flip side that is still my #1 issue with the Byrd signing. probably no division in the NFL has had such poor QB play or revolving door at QB like the AFC East. not saying he is not any good just a point to make me question the money spent Now the way i see the pats system working is this throw a bunch of darts in the draft. get a starter and a solid back up your ahead of the game go into FA and plug the holes you missed the previous year. play the season repeat they do not care about missing on 12 if they get at least one. milk a couple till you can replace them in the next couple of years. via draft or FA mid level FA is their meat and potatoes draft is the gravy and/or the salt and pepper |
