Re: Lofton being shopped?
very dubious & speculative
Lofton will cost us $9 mill if he plays, or $5 mill if he goes So are we going to find a better player for $4 mill just to break even? and: The team could save $2.25 million by converting that to a signing bonus, leaving $7 million against the cap. |

Re: Lofton being shopped?
If they are willing to take the cap hit then to me it appears they will draft an ILB, immediate starter on a rookie pay scale.

Re: Lofton being shopped?
An immediate starter doesn't mean he is better or production from the rookie...we suck at drafting LBs...can you imagine what the run defense will look like if we pull this off and the replacement is worse? OMG!!!

Re: Lofton being shopped?
We havent drafted a LB higher than the 3rd round. The good ones are usually found between 1-3. Got try sometime, why not now? Maybe we'll get the next Dome Patrol.

Re: Lofton being shopped?
Yeah but now we need 2 ILB
Im beginning to wonder if we see the team go back to 4-3 in the next couple of years. We dont have a dominant NT,dont have any great ILB. I could see Allen pushing a 4-3 similar to the Broncos. |

Re: Lofton being shopped?
Vic Beasley could be the Von Miller to that defense. If he falls. We're in a weird spot in the draft. We basically get the top 10s leftover pick. Whether that be Beasley, Fowler, Shelton, Shane Ray, etc. I wonder what we'll get for Lofton. Hopefully a 2nd round pick, at least he had a good year.
