Depending on how Hickey takes to skills coaching and commits to physical training, he should provide a younger, higher ceiling option...

Hickey has plus, plus upper body strength; it's his core, lower body he's got to really match to his upper body...

And maybe because he's top-heavy, he's got some technique flaws that have to be corrected...

Josh is our new hybrid TE/WR at the freak position replacing Jimmy

Now to call either a TE would not be fair to Watson or the others who do block. granted Josh is a better blocker than Jimmy. Ok puts more effort into it. or shows a willingness to block as the experts say.

Re: 2015 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

Im really intetested in seeing how much Orson Charles has progressed since the Bengals. Been re watching that season of hard knocks to see him. The talent is there for him to be a intetesting TE-FB threat. The more multi position players the better. Get him on the field with Lorig and Ingram and it would open up some play action passes

In that case you would cut Jarius Byrd.

I think Lorig is a better long term answer than Johnson.

Versatility wins.

Not a big fan of the Byrd signing, hoping he finally leaves the injury bug and plays a full season...

If you want versatility, Johnson looks like the better runner and he played linebacker at Tennessee, so there's that to consider...

Davis Tull (R5, #148) i think he can be a solid back up at both inside and outside. smart kid

Kasim Edebali might be an interesting prospect also for dual roles. though he would be raw. he was signed as a TE with BC and switched to DE/OLB. he has the smarts to pick it up.

For these back ups it is about athleticism sure but passion and smarts are a huge part to sticking.

Thought the same thing about Tull moving inside...because of the shoulder, transition and depth signed, I think he's headed for Payton's version of a red-shirt season...

'76, what is a reasonable time per play from scrimmage that a defensive back should have to cover a receiver?

Many of those backfield breakdowns last season were clearly failure of not containing, collapsing the pocket...

There was total suckage to geaux around the entire defense, but the problems in my mind clearly started upfront...

I agree with Greg on PJ getting a lot of value time at the nickle position. Interesting I didn't see Ellerbe's name as a starter (Hawthorne being in the middle scares the hell outta me).

My love for this draft is growing...

One guy who went surprisingly undrafted that I really wanted us to get was Michigan St LB Taiwan Jones, 6' 3", 246 lbs...

He was an OLB for three (3) seasons and got asked to move inside linebacker his senior year; so in effect, he played a new position for one season...

Really liked this guy, absolutely hated he signed with the Jets...

We signed another receiver...

(Lance) Lewis, 6-2, 207, comes to New Orleans after spending the entire 2014 campaign on the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers. Originally signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina in 2012, Lewis appeared in three games for the Redskins in 2013 after starting the season on their practice squad and was also on the Dallas Cowboys practice roster for Week 17 of that campaign.

The Concord, N.C. native played two seasons at East Carolina and following his senior campaign, ranked first in school record books in touchdown receptions (22), third in receptions (149) and fifth in receiving yardage (1,716).

Source: New Orleans Saints release K Shayne Graham, Sign WR Lance Lewis

These are usually the little signings that surprise (i.e. Lance Moore); good size, look forward to seeing what he can do...

He played like warrior last season (contract year) but it is a good thing that we still have Khiry Robinson.

I'm curious to see Spiller in black and gold. I just want to see him finish games (2nd half) on the field and not sitting on the bench.
