That has to be false; Tom Brady restructured his deal a couple years back taking a lot less money... No way in hell would he have been released regardless what he did with the contract

In that case the team does cut the player to avoid the roster bonus and renegotiates a new deal, or more precisely, signs the pre-negotiated new deal. The previous contract has to be voided before a new one can take its place. Cutting the player is how this is accomplished. |
