I'm feeling the same way as when we got Sproles, only better. He's much faster and stronger. It would not surprise me if he breaks Sproles's AP record. Only thing that concerns me is durability. Sproles knew when it was over, meaning when to go down. It's a skill not often brought up with RB's but it's a real thing.

Re: Saints sign RB CJ Spiller
This guy was considered a feature back going into last season. I wonder if he can return kicks.

Re: Saints sign RB CJ Spiller
Love this signing we were really missing the "X" position that sproles and bush played last year. CJ will excel under Payton who will use him correctly. An drew also plays better when he has a good back who he can check it down to. I noticed last year drew wasn't passing it to his backs as much as I remember with sproles and bush. Which people say/said that cooks could fill that role. Which honestly I don't think cooks is fit for that same role he has his own X factor type role. That's a mismatch nightmare with maybe cj and cooks in the backfield.

Re: Saints sign RB CJ Spiller
Per a source with knowledge of the contract, Spiller can make the extra $2 million via escalators in 2017 and 2018. In 2017, he gets up to $700,000 based on factors such as getting to the Pro Bowl and generating specific amounts of rushing and receiving yards. In 2018, Spiller gets up to $1.3 million based on the same factors.
Also, the 2018 season voids (making it a three-year, $12.6 million deal) if Spiller makes it to two Pro Bowls in the next three years or becomes a first-team All Pro in 2017. The deal includes a $5 million signing bonus, a fully-guaranteed base salary of $750,000 in 2015, a $1.7 million base salary in 2016 guaranteed for injury at signing and fully-guaranteed on the third day of the 2016 league year, a fully-guaranteed (five days after signing) roster bonus of $1.55 million due in 2016, a $3.1 million salary and a $500,000 roster bonus in 2017, and a $2.9 million salary and a $500,000 roster bonus in 2018. Spiller’s deal has same base value as Ingram’s | ProFootballTalk |

Mismatches. Payton thrives on them.
CJ gives us what we were missing and depending on the game plan he can excel as a rusher or receiver. Shotgun draw play to CJ? First down!! Saaaaiiiiiinnnnnntttsssssss.... |
