He just like everyone else knows, they'll never bench him...

Like Halo says; protect the man give him a decent run game(which they have worked on this off-season). Give him a defense that doesn't put pressure on him to score every series...

And we have the old Drew back...
Agreed, I think the last person on this team that needs to be motivated is Drew Brees.

Play action to me has always been Brees best play. Only things that I didn't like last season was throwing behind recievers, his going through progression reads were not that great, bad decisions forcing the ball into double and triple coverage and looked for Graham way to ofter. At 36-37 years old, game managing might not be so bad but Brees being a gunslinger days are behind him after this season if not this season.

But can you blame him... Is there anything to play for. You have a trophy, the HOF is lock, and who is really putting pressure on him on our roster...... If you want the cerebral Brees back you are gonna have to ramp up the pressure on him too. Im thinking Brett Hundley would do that.... If you think back, when he was in ruts in San Diego... the Chargers brass selected Rivers... and Brees played some of his best San Diego ball... I think if we want the true Brees... we have to ramp that pressure up!!!!
Eww not Hundley. Yuck. Get Sean Mannion instead. He'd have good chemistry with Cooks.

Re: Now put the fear back into your QB

The Saints got him a center finally, he will will the ability to climb the pocket like in years last again when the pocket collapses so he will be able to find this 3rd or 4th option like in years past. Brees has earned enough respect in this league that's he's the last player Payton should be trying to play mind games with, Bress is a self motivator.

I think the guy has played some very good football with the Saints. Whoever was backup QB.

What we have to do is make the sure guy trusts his team; decent protection, guys who will catch the ball coming their way.

I wouldn't mind it if Drew was a little more focused on football. I know that his wife is fertile and he has children that need his time. He has a ton of charities where he invests his money and time for a good cause. And then there is all the time spent with the NFLPA. Also, Drew is quite busy with his endorsement deals as well.

I just wonder if he's not stretching himself too thin?

Have you read his book?

I have. He is a classic type "A" personality. He thrives working, wherever that may be. He cannot be stretched too thin.

I haven't but think I will. That said, the other night on twitter he put up a score he got on some golf video game and asked if anyone could beat it. Dude is competitive with everything. I wouldn't even want to hang out with him because I just envision everything becoming a contest lol

In 2009 I heard that he and Jonathan Vilma went through stages of hating eachother in training camp because one day the offense would win and the next day the defense would, two ultra competitive guys that never wanted to lose.

Even the backup QB's say that Brees hates to lose any sort of contest.
