And the for the 33,000,000th time, trading him costs us $33,000,000 in dead money.

How do you figure there is dead money in the event of a trade? Releasing a player would result in dead money.

Wow. Seriously shaking my head...

Let's see what happens behind a solid O line before we go trading our best asset.

Who said we were trading him? Other than the original post which was clearly sarcasm.

Barring the the SB and a couple of strong efforts, he has had to deal with some of the worst defenses in the history of the NFL. Horrible. He would have to make 0 mistakes to counter that level of effort. Not going to happen. We need an average to good defense. The man can play respectable enough for several more years with a decent defense.

Do you know just how bad that is compared with previous Saints QBs and their best efforts in the black & gold???

Billy Kilmer 74.9 in 1969
Archie Manning 81.8 in 1980
Ken Stabler 71.8 in 1981
Dave Wilson 83.9 in 1984
Bobby Hebert 82.9 in 1987 and 1992
Wade Wilson 87.2 in 1994
Jim "Chris" Everett 87.0 in 1995
Mike Ditka's QB cluster 83.5 (Tolliver) in 1998
Aaron Brooks 88.8 in 2003
Yea

Yep, it's painfully obvious that we would be smart to dump Brees and go back to our normal QB carousel...

You forgot the part about how he only helps us achieve a top 5 offense year in year out lately with a crappy offensive line and no real number one receiver.

No.

Large signing bonuses and guarantees can be dangerous because every dollar spent hits the salary cap eventually. A player who leaves via trade, release or retirement before any bonus proration or other guaranteed money have been amortized carries an accelerated cap hit.

Saints would be foolish to trade Drew Brees -- and they aren't: Jeff Duncan | NOLA.com
