this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Mickey & Sean already know what they are going to do with their draft picks and I think one may include a QB....

We'd trade our 2nd for a 2016 1st, or our 3rd for a 2016 2nd. |

All In Now I say we trade a 3 and 2016 1 and get another 1 this year

Ive actually thought of that already being that this draft class is thin in the first round. I wouldn't hate it if it happened.

Yeah that's right, I see what you mean now. So many possibilities. I'd gladly give up one of our 3rds for a 2016 2nd rounder. That would take incredible patience by Loomis and Payton though to not package one of those picks in a trade up in the 1st or 2nd round.

I don't know if there is anybody in the building who can stop them from moving up........it's kind of their M. O.

Wow, I'm surprised that so many people didn't read the original post.

Re: Trading up, kinda sorta
I would trade away any picks after the fifth round for something better next year. The higher we draft the more the odds are in our favor of hitting it big.

Re: Trading up, kinda sorta
What's the promise that there would be someone better next year? I can see trading around for a much needed player this year, but for next? Plus, what's the guarantee that that pick would be high enough to even matter anyways?

Re: Trading up, kinda sorta
I think it would be a good idea to trade away f.e. the 31st for something like a 2nd and a 4th next year - if someone were to offer that. You could always use those picks to move up this year as well if someone the Saints like fell in the later rounds.
It all depends on the big board and who's available when the Saints are picking. One of the reason is also the tight salary cap, so trading away the other 1st rounder might make financial sense. |
