Re: Now The Symbol Of New Orleans Is Considered Racist
Nobody is arguing your right to own or fly a confederate flag. Are some of you that dense and that uninformed? People are arguing that these flags have no business displayed on government property.
You are allowed to paint a rebel flag on your chest and run down the street if you want. Nobody is going to take that away from you, nor is anyone trying to take that away from you. |

Walmart, Amazon, Sears, eBay stop selling Confederate flag - CNNPolitics.com NAACP: Blast Confederate generals off Stone Mountain | AL.com Confederate Flags Stolen After Social Media Ignites #NoFlagginChallenge - NBC News And on that last link, someone, at some point, will get their @$$ shot over doing that... |

You can buy flags at any number of places and can fly it freely on your property without any repercussion from the law or goverment. |

Seeing how the federal government is making people do the above, I'd say personal preogative and freedom is being taken away from the people. I may be off base, but isn't that the type of thing that started the Revolutionary and Civil War? States being able to govern their own laws. |

Your third example queries whether a State can enact legislation to override federal law and discriminate against an entire class of people by denying them the ability to enter into the contract of marriage. In fact, I don't really understand your point. I think we can all agree that Junior Galette is a d*ck though. |

Re: Now The Symbol Of New Orleans Is Considered Racist
If people believe that Southern people were the only ones that had slaves, they can also do some looking into how many were owned by Northern people flying the stars and stripes, is it next? What about the Panther paws or whatever they call it, its symbole of the Black Panthers? Their is plenty of blame to go around when it comes to hatred. Their is no race that has not seen their share of slavery or hate crimes committed. Empires were built that way throughout history. Are all those flags going to be ban also?

Re: Now The Symbol Of New Orleans Is Considered Racist
I will repeat this once again
The Fleur-de-Lis is a "flower of the lily." The Roman Catholic Church ascribed the lily as the special emblem of the Virgin Mary. Due to its three "petals," the fleur-de-lis has also been used to represent the Holy Trinity So it is a religious symbol thus falls under the separation of church and state debate if anything. the saints are not in that topic. |
