If they would have dropped back in prevent, the result would have probably been the same. The Ravens OLine did a good job. The QB made the throw. And the receiver made a heck of an effort to get past the sticks. It is what it is. The lack of effort and/or execution by the starters is more concerning than a late play with the scrubs vs. scrubs in a meaningless game.

Stick with calling offensive plays and leave the defense to RR.......for now anyway.

Rob Ryan would be an awful horror film director. I know exactly where the big screams are going to be; 4th and long every time!!! Tragicomedy though he gets the Oscar nod.

I wouldn't have known about this 4th and 20 play if it weren't for this thread, but I can't say I really care about it. This is what we should expect. It's either going to be vanilla or over the top aggressive in the most inappropriate times. It's just practice. Now if guys are missing tackles and dropping passes, that's something to complain about, but hardly anyone of importance was playing.

I couldn't be bothered to pay attention either. There's enough frustrating stuff to watch than the paroxysm that is the 1st Saints' preseason game. This is either going to be representative of the team, or it won't. We won't really know until the 3rd preseason game at best.

That being said, $150 million in salaries would have projected a slightly more coherent 1st game than has been reported. Is the altitude in WVa causing brain damage?

Exactly...

While I'm nowhere near panic mode, or more accurately - soured; that game threaded out like many of the disappointed losses we had last season, so there is some concern...

There's time to get it fixed...

But the big concerns I have is Payton making that call and neither Ryan nor Allen being strong enough to say "no" and the other is with a semi-jailhouse blitz we weren't even able to get near the quarterback...

WTF is the pressure going to coming from because Cam Jordan is going to bring it consistently...

Yes sir... I'm simply not understanding our defensive game plan. I though we were supposed to be going to a 3-4, yet we bring 3 tech DTs. On other occasions we are playing 4-3 but play LB's at DE. I often wonder if the Big Lebowski knows what he wants on D. We have a lot of speed and size this year, yet we play the opposite :help:.

I'm not in panic mode yet however there is reason to be concerned... specifically on defense.

We have a lot of speed and size at LB, but we lack the D-line to support them. I don't think Jenkins or Williams is the answer, they both got schooled by the 1s. The RB and O-line was on top of our LBs as soon as the ball was snapped, our DTs might as well of stayed home.

My biggest concern with this team is from the DTs, or lack thereof. #95 and #71 played well at the spots in scrub time but who knows what they'll do against the 1s.

Shows Sean doesn't completely trust his assistants. Maybe he just wanted to see how the team would with the pressure on to get a feel of how well we can blitz. Maybe he figured if it didn't work that at least it would put the defense against the wall, under pressure, when the games on the line
