Like I said, SP should be held accountable for the shoddy defenses we have fielded year after year!

Great call that made the Ravens Fans extremely happy. Was looking for a paper bag so I could sneak out of the stadium. What was aggravating is that Grayson put together an outstanding drive to put us ahead.

Re: 4th and 20 D was Sean's call

"Fourth down and 20, that was my call, we blitzed 'em," Payton said. "Obviously they were able to make a play and continue the drive."

The Saints sent eight pass-rushers on the play -- which wasn’t enough against the Ravens' seven blockers. Quarterback Bryn Renner had plenty of time to dump off a short pass to wide-open tight end Maxx Williams, whom no one covered out of the backfield. Saints outside linebacker Kasim Edebali let Williams go as he flew toward the QB.

The 8 man blitz was not a bad call IMO. All QBs for the Ravens had time to bake a cake back there all game long. The prevent defense got eaten up all game long. So Might as well. 8 rushers vs 7 blockers and still no free lane to the QB.

Sorry the TE killed you all game long yet no one picks him up? Kasmin should not allowed a free release. Issue number one. The issue 2 is, who in the secondary blew their assignment?

Gotta get these guys some reps. need to cut the dead weight soon or

Lets here it gang. This unit just needs time to gel

Re: 4th and 20 D was Sean's call

I have zero opinion about this game. I didn't watch it, I didn't follow it online, and I barely even thought about it. The pre-season is boring enough, but I learned a long time ago that the first one and the last one are especially meaningless.

I wouldn't have known about this 4th and 20 play if it weren't for this thread, but I can't say I really care about it. This is what we should expect. It's either going to be vanilla or over the top aggressive in the most inappropriate times. It's just practice. Now if guys are missing tackles and dropping passes, that's something to complain about, but hardly anyone of importance was playing.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Re: 4th and 20 D was Sean's call

Wasn't there somebody in camp or in the B&G scrimmages, who kept saying that the tight ends were always ridiculously open? I seem to remember an article or a blog, I remember reading somebody mentioning that it was hard to tell from practice if the Saints tight ends were really good or if the defense was really bad, but it kept happening in practice or in camp, and I seem to remember someone mentioning it, not sure where I read it....I have a feeling that tight ends are going to kill us again this year, 3rd down and 4th down, just like last year....oh man.

Exactly! I don't understand why everyone is in panic mode. Last season the Saints were great in the 1st preseason game and we know how last season turned out. Folks need to chill out.

Agreed. There was plenty of bad to complain about, but there was a lot of good as well.

Overall I was slightly disappointed in the 1st quarter (but we didn't have Brees), and the last 2 minutes (with numerous guys who won't even be on the team in 3 weeks).

Everything else was a typical pre-season performance.

I give us a C-minus. I'm not gonna panic yet.

Last season in pre-season was why I drank the kool-aid. Now it's the same old crap out of our D. I'm not liking this 4-3 under we're playing more and more. It's more of a 4-3 blunder.

Re: 4th and 20 D was Sean's call

I keep hearing how meaningless preseason is, but its weird how this looked exactly like the team we watched lose last year in the regular season.

Both lines getting punked.
Defense giving up big stupid plays, on 3rd & 4th & long.
Stupid penalties. Anyone who cant figure out where to line up, or how to
figure out where the line of scrimmage is, shouldnt play football.
No pass rush.
Poor blitz pickup.
Some flashes of offense.

Looks like the backups are chips off the old starters blocks.

It sure looks like real problems to me.
For now, we suck.
