Turns out that the great Abraham Lincoln wasn't so great. He was a borderline tyrant who started a war that raped and devestated the south.!
What make this book "The Real Lincoln" non fiction? Fact, Abraham Lincoln ordered Emancipation Proclamation to paved the way for African-Americans to fight for their freedom. Fact, the south was against the abolishment of slavery. Fact, Lincoln considered the Emancipation Proclamation the crowning achievement of his presidency.

It is not a symbol of slavery?
The south was fighting to maintain control over their property which at the time African American were considered property.

It is not a symbol of hatred?
It was a symbol of hating the government. That is why the "x" is crossed with stars and stripes.

It is not a symbol of racism?
Why EVERY hate group display the flag?

Like I said dude, read it for yourself. It's not fiction, and it will blow your mind. The emancipation proclamation was just another political tool he used... just do yourself a favor and read the book. He's not the hero you think he is.

The south was fighting to maintain states rights. Lincoln and revisionist historians want you to believe it was about slavery because that's what he needed people to believe so that he wouldn't be seen as the near tyrant that he was... I'll say it one more time, read the book and see for yourself.

I don't know where you get the "hating the government" thing from, but I'm sure it's taken out of context. The south was against centralized or "big" government, Lincoln was all about it.. that's why they seceded.

As I said in my original post, the fact that hate groups use it for their purposes doesn't change what it truly symbolizes. There are hate groups who fly the American flag, should we rip it down too? Those maniacs are the minority, why are we letting them dictate what things should or should not mean?

i agree with you. the flag has no place in the government in my opinion also. to avoid the state flag issue i think it hould come up for a vote.

Just this has gone a bit extreme. I can not buy a rebel flag on line but i can get nazi and isis all day long?

duke of hazards? that was my final straw. hell that was offense to all white southerns lol

The extremist are hurting the message as they always do with ever thing they touch.

Can you not get a rebel flag online? From what I understand only EBay and Wal Mart and maybe Amazon chose to not carry the item for sale any longer. I'm fine with that. Its their business and if the money lost/gained is something they can live with then more power to them. There are still other online vendors where you can get flags. I haven't checked so I don't know.

And no I am not saying African Americans do not have the right to be mad. All I am saying is that at a certain point people need to learn how to let go of their hate and baggage in order to move on.
It is said in just about every religion and agreed by many psychologists that the only way someone can move on and be free in their personal life is by learning to let go of any emotional baggage, accept it for what it is, own it, learn from it, and move on. It will make you stronger in the end .The same is true in society. Throughout history everyone, every race, religion, society, country, has been **** on at some point in time. If we all went around pointing fingers to this day we would never have progressed as a species.

And the civil war was mostly all about slavery. The South wanted to keep slaves and every state in the confederacy wanted to have the right to choose weather or not they got to keep slaves. Slavery was unconstitutional. States had their rights as long as they practiced them within the confines of the constitution. The southern states didn't want to accept the fact that slavery was unconstitutional.
