Re: My positive Paulie take on things
The Giants Defense kept them in the game with key turnovers. The last set of plays on Offense lost the game for the G-Men. That being said Spags was not the reason the Giants choked in the end. Everybody forgets when Spags was here Payton was suspended. They never had the chance to work together.

Re: My positive Paulie take on things
Offensive play calling was offensive. Targeted tight ends once I think. Was this screen night? OK I get the ball control plan but dude- stretch the field some. Great long play to Snead - why not go back to more like it? Drew had time. Were the AZ corners/safeties that good? Drew looked - and can't believe I'm saying it - lost. Young D kept us in the game till the end. Payton looks to have made the coaching relationships toxic - he needs to get over himself and be a team player. Go out to dinner with the other coaches and laugh a while. Lighten up on the pressure, everyone wants to win. Try to have fun.

Otherwise, for the first game of the season, on the road, against a good home team, in their house, with so many new young players, and still be in it with 2 minutes left playing poorly.............clean it up and this team will be good. 1-4 in the red-zone, 7-18 on third down, several missed opportunities for turnovers, no run game, it should have been a blow out. |

Re: My positive Paulie take on things
did you see that shot of him yelling at Ryan? Dude, its not on the Defense. YOUR playcalling, and offense
stunk up the field. If offense had done its job 50% of the time, we win yesterday, and I dont believe the Cardinals score the last 2 TD's. |

Re: My positive Paulie take on things
I didn't listen to Payton's post game pressor but did anyone get his explanation on that 4th down call late in the game where he elected to punt instead of going for it?

Re: My positive Paulie take on things
Rob Ryan should have yelled at Payton
Our defense forced 3 consecutive punts and the offense did F all with the opportunity. |

Re: My positive Paulie take on things
Offense is not to be feared at this time. I still have hope the WRs will step up. Huge gamble in the off season
Defense can play 2/3 of game but it will fold in the last 1/3. Contain the pocket? whats that? NT get driven were ever the blocker wants to take them. So it is the same ol same ol that about sums it up |

Re: My positive Paulie take on things
I'll give my take on the game and both sides of the ball.
Offensively - As stated many times our play calling was suspect. I am not sure the fascination with the screens but they became very predictable. We played a top 5 defense and struggled against it. I thought pass protection was very good. It was our receivers who couldn't get the separation they needed. Robinson and Ingram ran with spark even when the holes didn't exist. Against a bad defense I think it looks a lot better. Defensively - I was impressed with the effort and production of Jordan and Kikaha. Williams was solid in the middle but Hicks and Jenkins were non-existent. It said volumes when Davison and Richardson are in on key downs late in the game. Anthony played well as did Swann. They stood out. Other than that I don't think I heard a back 7 player be named for a good reason. Breaux's pick was overshadowed by all of the penalties and times he was playing catch up to the game which I expected alot of our young players to do so he gets a pass. Overall I thought our defense did enough to get us a win. I expected we would drop this game and it played out pretty much what I figured. Tough, well coached team at home and I figured we would hang around and keep it close and lose a tight game. |
