He didnt abandon the run which is good but wayyyyy to many screens. Drew looked well, older. Didnt seem as accurate as usual and it is odd because the offensive line actually did a much better job pass blocking than a year ago. Receivers need some work. Maybe we should look at NIcks. Colston pulled a Colston and Coleman didnt do much to give Drew confidence. Our red zone offense looks just as pathetic as last year. Still cant get the turnover. Breaux got one but I saw at least 3-4 other opportunities blown that could have been game changers. Payton really does seem to hate Ryan. Even if the defense plays well I think there is a riff in that marriage that cant be mended and he will never have Paytons total trust. If Payton has to second guess the defense all the time he starts calling stupid plays. WTF was that pass to Cooks in the endzone when he was covered by Peterson? That was just dumb. Anyway there are some positives and I do actually feel a little better about the team but it seems like there are a lot of problems that carried over from last year. Rell&Gold likes this.

We have delt with this too long and now Brees's time is running out. Everyone needs to stop making excuses for broken coverage and 7pts at the end of the game to put it out of reach. Hold - do your Job - or get fired Frankly we are sick of the bad defenses in NO. if we cant figure it out, fire everyone on the D coaching staff and start from scratch. Cant do much worse. We're down by 4 pts we need to keep the ball to score on offense to give us a VERY GOOD WIN PERCENTAGE because if we created a drive scores a td the cardinals would only have seconds left to try and get into fg range to beat us. If that scenario happened and our defense let them score with seconds left on the clock I would be like everyone else. I would have blasted the defense for not protecting the lead. But nooooo we never had a lead to protect! Again I'm not saying our defense last year didn't cost us games however, I am saying there were moments in last season where the sants offense could have picked up 1st downs or score to put us in positions to win the game and just like yesterday, COME UP EMPTY HANDED. Yeah I know the O lost at least 3 games last year, but I am just saying what everyone else is thinking in NO. We are tired of the the bad defenses, and not being able to hold ever. At least the offense gave us some dominance over 9 years, D has sucked, and the excuses are getting old because we are running out of time. Boutte likes this.

Um not a mutha lovin thang! Offense isnt perfect but your " once again" statement baffles me. Our offense has played better than pretty much 30 other teams in the NFL for the last 9 years and 31 other teams in the league several times. Its just math dude. No offense in the history of the game can single handedly win games without some sort of help from the defense which is more than what we have had. We won a Superbowl with one of the worst defenses in the league (25th) The only good thing about the 09 defense was take aways. And why are take aways important?? Because it puts the ball back in the hands of the offense. I think a lot of the fans that want to blame the offense are younger and have come up watching football since the high powered offenses came to pass and are just spoiled because there arent big plays every down. With what we had available I think they did decent except for not getting a consistent pass rush...
