You could be correct. I don't see us matching up with any other teams on the schedule.

This is when you can tell its a sad sad upcoming year when we start to call a game against the worse team in the NFL last year as a season defining game

I agree, we can learn a lot about our team from this game. Tampa Bay is about on our level. It's not hard to imagine, that without Brees at the helm, the recent Saints roster of the last two years could easily have been a two-win trainwreck of a team, just like Tampa was last year. They certainly gave us quite a handful, both times we played last year.

The old days of Sean Payton kicking Tampa's can from one end of the stadium to the other, with those fantastic dominant 38-17 type blowout scores that we used to love and enjoy, both at home and at their place....those days are long behind us now. We will see a better yardstick of what we really have on our roster, come Sunday.

Re: In my opinion week 2 will show our season

Watched several games this weekend to include the Saints ... What I saw by way of comparison was not encouraging ... Rams Philly Falcons 49'ers they all play at a different speed both on offense and defense ... In particular our compared to our offense, our offense is just playing to slow even with Cooks ... The opposing defense is in the play before we are ... No separation on short or long routes they are defended as though the defense knows not only the route trees but the actual calls before the snap ...

Our defense I think has some potential in the LB's and CB's ... The DLine is just plain bad, again slow no pressure, no tackles on running plays ... If we can not speed up to the matchup with competition it will be a long slow frustrating season.

The old days are a myth. From 2006-2011 the Saints were 6-6 against the Bucs, including a loss the last game of the 2009 season (meaningless I know).

It's only been in the last 3 years that we have consistently beaten the Bucs.

I think it disingenuous to say the Bucs are just about at our level. Having a top-3, All pro caliber QB, makes all the difference.

The offense does need to do their job, which specifically is to score points.

Next week should be businesslike. Take care of TB and on to Carolina.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

Did my very own scouting (taped game/watched reply) on the Bucs ...

If we don't punish them by at least 17 points, I'd be really surprised. Their offense is predictable, and that defense I saw was AWFUL. Jameis appears to be a turnover machine on any given play. At times, he was throwing the ball as if he was still at Fl. State. The Bucs got major issues in all phases of the game right now. I understand this is a division rival and they are never easy however this game will be the exception. I would like to see a blitz or two from the Big Lebowski & also insert Murphy on third and short packages. Expect Breaux, Swann, K Sizzle (Kikaha) and/or Swann to have a nice game.

R E L A X - Saints should roll easy .

He's probably right. My Bucs looked terrible out there, and it was on the coaching as much as the players. The defense basically gave up when it hit 21 points and as bad as Jameis played, if he'd done better they could have kept Mariota in the fourth and matched the Bucs TD for TD. The HC was sending in defensive plays to his rookie middle linebacker and he called a terrible defensive game. Kwon's good but he's not a captain yet so overruling the coach all the time isn't going to happen.

If the defense continues to play like that Winston could be the offensive player of the week next week and you'll still win the game. If there is any silver lining it is precisely that you are at home next Sunday against a team with less talent and who are more shell-shocked at what happened week 1 than your boys.

That said, go Bucs!

Re: In my opinion week 2 will show our season

I don't think you can actually judge any team until after week 4.
Some teams are still in preseason mode in week 1.

Look at the slow starts two of the best teams (and SB champs) got off to last year.

NE starts off slow and people are saying they're done and the Belicheat era is over yet they win the whole thing.

GB starts off slow and Rogers has to go on radio shows telling people to relax, they end up as arguably the best team in the NFC (if not for some bum plays).

The fact is it's not only too early to judge the Saints, it's also too early to judge the Bucs.

NE actually did have issues early and BB made changes after the KC game. GB, I don't think there was any reason to worry considering it was in Seattle. I think week 3 was something to think about but we learned Detroit was a good defense. NE probably would have still lost in Miami later in the season as they barely got by the jets both times they played last year.
