Hits and misses for Saints' offense in loss at Arizona: Offensive film study
The screens to the WRs didn't seem to work as well as the ones to the RBs, IIRC.
The right game plan was in place. The New Orleans Saints came in fully prepared in how to counteract an aggressive Arizona Cardinals defense. I know many Saints fans screamed at the TV to stop throwing screen passes, but that's how Sean Payton, Drew Brees and Co. put the Saints in several positions to score touchdowns. That whole getting the football into the end zone thing just wasn't working. Hits and misses for Saints' offense in loss at Arizona: Offensive film study | NOLA.com |

If Coleman blocks/puts defender on his ass, Ingram would have scored on the long screen. I remember yelling it and saying if we end up not scoring that play will cost us. Still a good highlight of the day.

Still a good sign that Ingram's pass catching has improved!

I remember seeing, more than once, our running backs miss the gaping holes opened up for them. I think their vision could be better, and I think they need to be told to open it up and go for the TD.
Offensive linemen down the field are awesome to have blocking for you, which we have a lot of...but at some point, you've got to hit the gas and leave them all behind. Don't stand behind your blocks until you get caught from every other angle. |

First game with a depleted team, new faces, young players, on the road vs a tough opponent.
We played poorly. Racked up penalties. And still had a chance to win it. |

you know every team has excuses for new players, injuries, new defense, new scheme, not buying it. losers make excuses. Good teams find a way to win.

Know some are happy with Ingram being in on pass plays...
Hey, I'm glad to see him finally rounding into a complete back... That said, I'd rather have given the rookie, Murphy, a shot on some of those third downs and screens... I think he's converts those plays with a smaller profile and lower center of gravity... |

In order for a WR screen to work the defense must fear wr corps as a whole. till then it is 8 in the box watching for trick plays ie screens and man coverage for the CB.
Trick plays are the saints MO. No solid rushing attack or mid to deep passing attack leaves little left to try. |

Re: Hits and misses for Saints' offense in loss at Arizona: Offensive film study
It is that simple. Teams win Super Bowls. Not excuses or transition talk or not being able to work together on the field. Its a mind set. Rarely do you see the team with the best stats win a SB. I mean our D was #25 in 2009, but they were a team.
To get there is not so simple to create, thats coaching, but you shouldnt tolerate failure or excuses, that just makes you a loser, and complacent. and I stole that line from Bill Belichick. Who won SB's with kickers, running, great QB, and the last one was all defence. A Team. Im not seeing a team here yet, just hearing alot of excuses why they lose. |
Saints proved that pigs could fly in 2009.
Now its time for another miracle SuperBowl and go where no pig has gone before. Last edited by pherein; 09-18-2015 at 08:05 PM.. |
