The O-line was better without Evans, I think they will be better the longer they play together. A big body sure handed WR is needed, the rest is fine. It's the D side where the problem is. When players look like kids running around on a playground at recess it's not hard to see the lack of disipline that has been installed in them. The lack of playmakers I'm calling B.S. on that, we have plenty on both sides of the ball. I blame the coach(Payton in particular) because it's his job to make sure his position coaches install this in the players and when those position coaches don't it reflects on him . I don't believe for 1 second Payton don't see this and knows what to do about it. But will his loyalty get in the way? Paytons a smart guy but he has some issues that lie not with the players but the staff he has assimbled around him. If he can't see it I'll tell you Payton, it's your entire D staff and the 2 headed monsters are Johnson and Vitt in particular with Allen right there with them. Ryan is in over his head with these 3 and do yourself a favor and let him go to.Rebuild your D staff and this team has a chance to rebound in the later part of the year and be strong next season if not take your medicine when the doctor comes calling.

Re: Saints don't lack desire or effort; they lack playmakers
Arizona, I feel like was a possible win, with Tampa we had two fourth quarter turnovers that should have let us pull away, and in Carolina, without the punt return, we aren't in that either. We should be 1-2 maybe, but these teams that have beat us are not good and that speaks volumes.
However, this team could Gel, you see hints of it every game, we were the first team to go to the Superbowl finishing a season 0-3, who says they can't starting a season 0-3, stranger things have happened. |

Its bad coaching, that simple.
Defense is tackling, assignments, and execution. We lack all 3 on defense, so the coaches have sucked, no excuses. Offense is Blocking, assignments, and execution. We lack execution. these are the fundimentals as Belichick would say. Doesnt matter if you have the best talent in the world, if you cant train him to do the basics in the NFL he will fail. I have never seen a saints defense that even looked that good or got the fundamentals sense 2006, including 2009. Its always been fingers crossed for us as fans. |
