Ingram also is 2nd in receptions with 24...that is 1 behind Cooks' 25 receptions. That is how bad our receivers & tight ends are at getting open. This offense is a hot mess. We rack up yards only when we're down 2 or 3 scores in the 4th, it seems. It sure pads them stats, though. Sorry for that, but ain't it kinda sad to keep Brees in there chunking it around 39-10 late in the 4th Quarter when you have Grayson on the sideline to develop for the future? Seems selfish on Payton's & Brees' part to me, but what do I know... |

Re: Random Musings by the Dude
Musings? here i thought i was going to chuckle. then Google informed me this was a very misleading word.
Defense is a shell of it's former self. Since Rob arrived he has gutted this defense since year 1. there are a ton of new faces each and every year. This is not baseball were you can go out and buy a title Trades, free agents and cutting players have all resulted in defensive additions to this team at the expense of the offense. So honestly if your adding players at the cost of offense so your defense gets better what do you think will happen to the offense? When you get all these new pieces together over a 3 years period for this upgraded defense how long will it take for those individuals to function as a unit? If after you give this new defense time to gel and you discover it is not working who is to blame? Since the New England game in year one of Rob Ryan master minding a defense to bring us back to the promise land. It has been a downward spiral. The Pats will solve Rob and and Rob will not have an answer. But whats the point? I have said this even before that game. Saint still are in denial. The simple fact is the NFL has bypassed Rob Ryan. They know him like the back of their own hand. Yet i will sit back and pray a gut check will save this season Thursday night. If not I will sink farther back in my bark-o-lounger and mutter to my self. "Give this team time to gel." "Give this team time to gel." "Give this team time to gel." I will wait till Rob is gone or the season ends, and then and only then will I go of the per-verbal deep end. I will try So once again I am to the point were I am left with no choice but to sit back and see what happens over the course of a season. "Give this team time to gel." "Give this team time to gel." "Give this team time to gel." |

All this talk about Sean losing his creativity. All this talk about Sean being predictable. Some truth to it, but how much of the NFL is trickery and how much is just lining up against the other guy and beating him?

Re: Random Musings by the Dude
That is a good point. And much of our talent is getting old, many key players have been replaced with lesser players. We are fielding more rookies than any other team. And all this is because we have mismanaged personnel, drafting to some degree and the cap which falls back on our front office and coaches.

Re: Random Musings by the Dude
Its painfully obvious that we are witnessing the fall of Payton's successful run. We are out of salary cap space stuck with dead money, aging vets that are over paid. The talent level is lacking. We need to replace both guards ,tight end , WR on offense. Our defensive line needs upgrades at both tackle and end. We are short a starting outside linebacker and will continue to lose until we develop a pass rush. It is time for a major rebuilding project and it is going to be painful.I say cut the overpaid vets . Get the salary cap under control stockpile draft picks I have been a fan of Sean and Mickey but I am not sure that changes in the front office and coaching staff need to be made . Ownership is facing family trouble and I sure that that has to affect the team negatively. There were big changes made this year and this next offseason is going to crucial to returning this team to the top. The top seems very far away at this time . IMHO the rebuilding needs to start NOW.

^^^^^ THIS. If you can consistently beat the man in front of you, the battle has been won. Almost no trickeration (I know it's not a word) wins at this level.
