I like Holcombe, but he\'s about as spotty as AB. He\'d make a good career backup, but if he hasn\'t \"got it\" in 8 seasons, he\'s simply not likely to.
I really like Kurt Warner. If we could get him on the cheap, I think he might really come through for us (assuming we make some OL improvements). If a team\'s willing to give Warner a chance, he may make them VERY happy. I\'ve also put my 2 cents in for Jay Fiedler before. Say what you like, but compare his stats as a starter to AB\'s before you start blasting me. Fiedler\'s posted comparable stats with far less talent surrounding him, and an absolutely deplorable O-line in front. That being said, I sullenly agree with those who say no new QB will be brought in. I sincerely wish one would, but Haslett and company have stuck with Leon this long ... it unfortunately looks like they\'re with him for the long haul. |

Actually, I was feeling a little scolded for bashing AB so much, so I took a step back for a few days. The wife and I bought a new computer earlier this week, too, so we\'ve been setting that up. Wasn\'t trying to neglect the BnG, just had some other stuff going on. Back now ... time to bash AB some more ... {pours more Whodi-approved AB poison into the Associated Press water cooler} :beer2: [Edited on 18/2/2005 by mutineer10] |

There\'s talk about Garcia going to the Lions. I don\'t know that they can\'t keep all three, but it could be likely that either McMahon or Harrington could be cut loose. (probably traded rather than cut)
So, although I\'m not a big fan of McMahon as a starter, I think there\'s a good possibility that he could be the backup we\'re looking for. And, he MIGHT push AB. How much would we give for him? I\'m guessing 4th or 5th rd pick. Just a thought. |

mcmahon is ufa, i think he is the best alternative as far as bang for the buck. he has high upside and could surprise if given the opp. when ya consider him for 2mil or under vs. ab at 6mil... that 4mil could land a hartwell, etc. i think affordable as a pusher/top notch backup anyway.
my gm move would be oust ab while something can be had for him. another flop this year and it wont be much next year. then mcmahon with walter as a 2nd round pick holding clipboard and learning the ropes. |

We\'ve been very lucky that Brooks hasn\'t been injured to the point where he couldn\'t play (since December 2002, when he shouldn\'t have played). The Saints need a veteran QB in the stable. SFIAH |
