4 defensive guys that have showed huge promise for seasons to come, not to mention PJ Williams.

We are a young team, that's why we need a capable head coach and DC to point us in the right direction.

In my opinion, Neither Payton nor Rob Ryan are the right guys to the do that.

I think the fact that we will have to let RR go is academic. Consider it's already happened. Why keep him around? He gave us a booster after Spags, then last year we stunk again. In 2015, I would have cut ties and brought in another professional with experience. To heck with reputation and defensive "coaching carousel" talk. We're trying to WIN and not win a reputation contest.

In fact, if we keep RR after this season and we finish 2015 below 20th ranked in the NFL on defense, either we let him go or it will look poorly on SP because who can take SP seriously? No hard feelings, but RR shouldn't be here. Tired of excuses, lost draft picks etc. We need to make sure coach is not part of the problem. RR has a poor poor coaching history, period!
thank you!

Re: Fire Rob Ryan

if SP doesn't clean house of the defensive coaching staff this offseason, he never will and his loyalty to incompetent coaches baffles me

The only problem could be if SP heads for the door himself then it's pretty academic that a whole new regime will be in place.

Re: Fire Rob Ryan

There is plenty of blame to go around. Starting with the collegiate and pro scouting departments followed by the position coaches. We pick poorly in the draft and have no idea how to develop talent. We draft players to fit a 3-4 defense the last few years and now we field a 4-3(or some version of it). Our FA evaluation has been questionable at best. I realize that we do a lot of shopping in the second tier of free agency but still we should evaluate talent better and be able to find players who fit the system.

When Payton came here he brought a list of coaches and assistants who could help him here. His team was very successful and so his assistants received enough recognition to move up in other organizations. Unfortunately, his replacements haven't been nearly as effective and we no longer bring in and develop talent. Nearly everyone of our position coaches should get their walking papers. The O-line sucks. The D-line sucks. Yeah, even the LB'ers suck under Joe Vitt. The secondary sucks. Did I mention special teams suck?

Ireland knew we had an opening in the FO and called asking for an interview. We'll see how he follows up this draft and hopefully, he'll be the real deal and hold Payton to a different standard.

Benson needs to hire a team of professionals right now to investigate the winning teams and their employees contracts. We need to bring in strong young leadership from established programs that know how to get things done properly. Not necessarily a guys coach that the players love like Ryan is. Give me a tough guy from a great organization whether it's from the NFL or a collegiate program that have similarities. Stop bringing in coaches that were good years ago but can't win now.

Should we fire Rex Ryan? Who's going to replace him? Allen? Halo? Start looking outside for their replacements now and roll the dice on the interim coach and fire Rex Ryan.

Did I mention that the whole front office also bears the responsibility of fielding a defense that has consistently been at the bottom of the league?

Boldness Prediction - Either Rob Ryan or Dennis Allen will be out as "co-defensive coordinator*" during, after the bye week...

*not exact titles, but you get the general idea

The "direction" needs course correction - no doubt...

We just need stronger personalities "in-house" (definitely stronger than Loomis) to stand up to Payton and guide him away from some of his extreme sheer genius/madness f***-ups...

Beginning with tearing the "reverse" plays from the playbook, cross-shredding them, and having said shreds placed in a dumpster, set afire...

I'd then having him sign a commitment to a base 3-4 and finish staffing the defense this offseason...
