Really? Are we going to act like he wasn't brought in to help? DC is a title that doesn't mean squat if you don't have full control.

His sole responsibility is to work with Rex Ryan which is why they are always side by side.

I guess he's like some of the people who work under me....relatives of someone...Payton felt bad because he didn't have a job....sounds like what you are saying...

i have no idea about any of the relative stuff, but he's not the d coord, and this d sucked with rr last season. i think alllen is here in case we have to fire fatty mid-season

Well based on that assumption RR should be gone already. It was clear he was brought in to help this dysfunctional defense.

Fire him....but if all of the defensive coaches don't go then you will be saying the same thing when the next DC walks in.

He was brought in to be the secondary coach, mainly, as well as assistant defensive coordinator, I guess. Dennis Allen can't run a defense. He proved that in Denver. Rob Ryan has had a long career to prove his lack of ability to make a significant difference. I think because Dennis Allen was once a head coach (a bad one) people automatically assume he's calling the shots over Rob. There is no evidence of that. He's an assistant, period.

Rob doesn't run the 3-4 or 4-3 exclusively. He runs whatever he feels like. He thinks he's going to fool someone that way, and if you look at what's happening, it isn't exactly working. Everyone keeps trying to say we're running a system Rob doesn't want to run. What system does he run? Do you really know? The guy outmarts himself and everybody wants to give him a pass. I don't get it.

I don't know if DA can run a D or not, but I think his D in Denver was better than what RR has fielded here

Thank you! He was brough in to help Ryan and the defense but it's not working. So what is the fix? I have no problem with firing Ryan but stop giving everyone else a damn pass. Since Payton brought in his friends the defense has been bottom of the league and we haven't turned one drafted player into a stud.

It was pretty much exactly the same. They beat the Cowboys in a game that year by a very similar score as the Saints vs. Giants game. It took 50 something points to win. And that whole year they were giving up 30 plus to everyone. And he had both Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil up front.
