Romeo Crennel was only thought to be good in New England. Bill Belichick runs that group just like Payton runs our offense.

Crennel has not done much since he left New England. There are a lot of bad coaches who get hired because some organizations have a hard time identifying good coaches from the rest of the coaches who are just lucky enough to have superior talent. We've had assistants leave here and suck elsewhere because they never were the brains to begin with (Marronne, Lombardi, Kromer immediately come to mind).

As for your question, what does it matter whether we get worse if we aren't getting better? I don't want Ryan or Allen, period.

That's just not true at all. There are some coaches who are good coordinators only. That's just the way it is.

Dom Capers, Norv Turner, Romeo Crennel, Charlie Weis, Josh McDaniels, Gary Kubiak, Wade Phillips all fine coordinators who were disappointments as head coaches...
