this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; all I saw was SP plugging in the bench by the second quarter when Kelemete replaced Litto. from there on the saints were free wheeling with all the back ups for the most part. Why? your guess is ass good ...

Why? your guess is ass good as mine. My guess? Starting roster evaluations for the pre draft needs chart. Litto is a FA in 2016 so lets see if we get stuck paying as a starter or do we have something on the bench to work with? Might get luck and have some one to plug in for Evans. It's a swing and a miss! stttttrrrrrike one From there on it was WTH lets see what the rest can do. your guess? |

Re: Snead 1 target?
I've been bashing the defense about pretty much everything they stand for in life, and rightfully so. But I have to say, the most embarrassing moment I may have ever seen in the entire Payton/Brees era came when Drew decided on his own that he would go for it on 4th down at his own 25 (or wherever it was) in the 4th quarter, down by 30. That Drew would go for that was puzzling, but that alone was not what made it embarrassing.
Two things: Payton clearly wanted no part of going for it, and yet he just stared out onto the field, confused, and didn't call a timeout. The second part is that Drew then proceeds to, on 4th and 4, throw a two yard pass to a guy who had a defender building a house and raising his family on his back. He could not possibly have been less open. I know Drew is a hall of famer, and yada yada, but if you're Sean Payton, do you really want to let that guy just walk on you? I appreciated that Drew didn't want to give up. I wasn't mad at him for WANTING to go for it, even though the situation clearly seemed unreasonable to do so. I just figured "yeah, sean's gonna overrule him". But when he was actually allowed to defy his own head coach, and then proceeded to make a dumb pass... All I could do was chuckle and say "wow... what a mess". |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

It was all about the fact that there was no respect there. And from the face of the franchise, no less. I'm not saying that Brees hates Payton, or that he's going to do that on every play from here on out. But you could see a disconnect beyond just the play, itself. You couple that with all the other squabbling going on, and the fact that Browner is continuously allowed to run amuck, both on the field and off it. It's not pretty. |

And then, for all Drew's heroic intentions, he throws the dumbest pass possible. It's a combination of how the whole game, and season have gone leading into one of the dumbest plays of the year, in which the player made himself the coach, that makes it stand out. Nobody is saying "man, that play was so stupid. It cost us the game". It's not about whether or not it made a difference in the outcome. It's how bad of a look it gave the team, after everything that had already happened. That's why I personally took exception to that play. |

Re: Snead 1 target?
Payton lost the team last year. The only difference this year is some different players.

Re: Snead 1 target?
Snead is battling a knee injury, so I would imagine as quickly as it got out of hand in the second half it didn't make much sense to play him.

For some reason the Coach didn't know it was 4th down.
