you're so right, lets keep Strief around because he only blows his assignment half the time. Even better, lets overpay Jordan and Byrd so they stay/come to New Orleans yet haven't lived up to their contracts.

I might not their assignment, but I sure as hell can tell when they screwed something up on a given play.

Is it time for Payton & Loomis to zip up their trousers and go?

WR:
1. Alshon Jeffrey (CHI)
2. Marvin Jones (CIN)
3. Michael Crabtree (OAK)
4. Rueben Randle (NYG)
5. Mohammed Sanu (CIN)

I believe we should sign at least two receivers next year to go along with Brandin Cooks. Cooks is a #2 or a slot. Its time we realize it. I'd take any two off that list.

Guard:
1. Brandon Brooks (HOU)
2. Kelechi Osemele (BAL)
3. Evan Mathis (DEN)

Even more then WR, we need help at the guards. Once again, we need two, bona-fide starters. There isn't a lot of help out there in the upcoming free agent pool, but we have to address the interior offensive line immediately. We have to cut Jahri Evans and Marques Colston. Brees has to take a significant pay cut, or let him go and let's see what Grayson can do. Brock Oswelier is also a free agent.

Defensively we have to decide if we're going to run a 4-3 or a 3-4 and stick to that. I believe we should go back too the 4-3. I'll bunch the defensive targets together.

Defense:
1. Jason Pierre-Paul, DE (NYG)
2. Tyrunn Walker, DE (DET)
3. Prince Amukamara, CB (NYG)
4. Janoris Jenkins, CB (STL)
5. George Iloka, S (CIN)

If the Saints could pull off those five signings, then the future would immediately brightness up on the defensive side of the ball. JPP, Walker, Foster, and Jordan is a great pass rush off the edges. Bump Kikiha and Edebali down to DE as well. You get Prince and Janoris lined up next a second year Breaux and Swann, and now the secondary is legit. Cut Browner. Cut Lewis. Cut Byrd. Bring in Iloka.

We're truly in rebuild mode. We have to acknowledge it.

OK Mr. GM, sir. Take a look at the $154 million cap number for 2016:

New Orleans Saints Salary Cap - Over the Cap

and explain exactly where the money will come from for these signings.

Who are you cutting? What is their impact on the cap?
Remember that pre June 1st cuts and trades are accelerated to the current cap year. So how many dollars are you going to add to the $14 million in dead money already in order to sign these high profile players?

Brees has a $30 million cap hit. What if he refuses to restructure? Are you going to cut or trade a HOF QB?

It really isn't as easy as playing fantasy. Long term contracts have real impacts well into the future of the signings.

I'll bet the freaking ball boys know more than 90% of the posters here.

Judging by the W-L record and the scores, I'd bet 90% of the other teams' ball boys know more than ours...

Its not Payton that needs to be fired, its some of the position coach's that have to go. BUT, if Payton refuses to fire his buddies, THEN he needs to go. IMO this is the bottom line. We need a change and if he refuses to, he has to go.

It depends. Do you want to go back to the days before Sean Payton came here? I don't. We just implemented an organizational shake up and things will look better next year after another good draft.

I don't think anyone does but there are other "Paytons" out there. Payton was just a "coach" when we got him. Like I said above, I don't want him to go but if he is unwilling to make a change, what choices are left? Keep doing the same crap we have been. Get some good players through draft and free agents just to not have them coached up because that's what's going to happen again if nothing is changed.

I'm not on the "fire SP bandwagon" yet. But I have a feeling that having a new young girlfriend has redirected his focus. He was known for spending a lot of time at the office and burning the candle on both ends - especially w living on the northshore and commuting everyday. I'm just wondering how much time he's spending at the office now compared to back then.
