Just because we have been sucking on defense does not mean we need a defensive minded head coach as I see posted over and over. What we need is a head coach who knows enough to take over offensive AND defensive play calling duties when his assistants arent getting it done.
Payton is dubbed an "offensive genius" but its obvious he knows abosolutely nothing about coaching defenses. There is no excuse for a head coach to let his defense get as bad as ours. He can blame it on staff all he wants but in the end he doesnt know what the hell is going on either.
We need a well rounded coach. Doesnt matter if he is an offensive or defensive coach but he better know how to call the shots on either side if he has to.

Our defense is dead last. That means Payton is not a good enough defensive coach to even get us to second to last.

The last thing we need to do is hire a defensive coach just for the sake of fixing our defense and wind up with the same problem just reversed.

Another thing, If Benson really did have all his facilities about him dont you think we would have heard something from him by now? At least an expression of dissapointment?

Good points. The next head coach needs to be well-rounded. And more importantly, he must hire quality assistants and hold them accountable.

And hold himself accountable at times.
Payton just looks to pass the blame whenever possible

Here's my target list.

WR:
1. Alshon Jeffrey (CHI)
2. Marvin Jones (CIN)
3. Michael Crabtree (OAK)
4. Rueben Randle (NYG)
5. Mohammed Sanu (CIN)

I believe we should sign at least two receivers next year to go along with Brandin Cooks. Cooks is a #2 or a slot. Its time we realize it. I'd take any two off that list.

Guard:
1. Brandon Brooks (HOU)
2. Kelechi Osemele (BAL)
3. Evan Mathis (DEN)

Even more then WR, we need help at the guards. Once again, we need two, bona-fide starters. There isn't a lot of help out there in the upcoming free agent pool, but we have to address the interior offensive line immediately. We have to cut Jahri Evans and Marques Colston. Brees has to take a significant pay cut, or let him go and let's see what Grayson can do. Brock Oswelier is also a free agent.

Defensively we have to decide if we're going to run a 4-3 or a 3-4 and stick to that. I believe we should go back too the 4-3. I'll bunch the defensive targets together.

Defense:
1. Jason Pierre-Paul, DE (NYG)
2. Tyrunn Walker, DE (DET)
3. Prince Amukamara, CB (NYG)
4. Janoris Jenkins, CB (STL)
5. George Iloka, S (CIN)

If the Saints could pull off those five signings, then the future would immediately brightness up on the defensive side of the ball. JPP, Walker, Foster, and Jordan is a great pass rush off the edges. Bump Kikiha and Edebali down to DE as well. You get Prince and Janoris lined up next a second year Breaux and Swann, and now the secondary is legit. Cut Browner. Cut Lewis. Cut Byrd. Bring in Iloka.

We're truly in rebuild mode. We have to acknowledge it.

Those are some quality players rezburna, but I think we would struggle to afford even one or two of them with Brees still under contract and dead money galore.

Paytongate. Here we go. Cmon. He deserves one more season is all I'm saying. I know fans got "used to winning" but sometimes consistency is more important if you want results. Just my opinion.

For the Payton fire people, come on guys we suck!
We knew this before the season started. Most of the people we drafted in 2015 are starting as rookies, which is amazing.

We talked about this already, remember?

We lost draft picks due to bounty-gate and made some crap choices in the drafts from 2012-2014 (not all but most).
At the end of 2014 Loomis and SP saw this and fired the scouting staff. Then this year we suddenly had our best draft in ages.

Firing Sean Payton will be about as effective as firing Rob Ryan. A placebo if anything. Canning SP cannot offset the fact that we're starting rookies and we have aging vets in some positions we can't bring replacements in for fast enough.

It probably could have worked out if we hadn't suffered an inordinate amount of injuries to key people (Lewis, Hawthorne, Armstead, Ellerbe, Brees, Bush, Robinson, Swann, and Kikaha).

Why is that every year we have a lot of players hurt? Not just the typical amount other teams deal with, but a lot. Its been going on for years. Its like we're made of glass. Could it be our S&C programs?

Holding Training Camp at a Spa doesn't help

It doesn't hurt other teams that practice up North at nice facilities. IIRC there are several top teams that do that.
