The Carolina Panthers beat the Saints 41-38 on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, overcoming a flurry of first-half turnovers with a steady and ultimately overpowering offensive attack.

The Panthers (12-0) officially clinched their third consecutive NFC South championship before the game, and the Saints (4-8) are on the verge of official elimination from the playoffs.

The Panthers scored the winning touchdown with 1:05 left when Cam Newton hit Jerricho Cotchery in the back of the end zone.

With no timeouts left, the Saints scrambled to get in position for a late field-goal attempt but couldn't get past midfield.

Maybe I'm in the minority, aside from Browner being active, game was competitive and from where our defense was three weeks ago, not bad, We just lack leadership on defense. We are "dumb", really "dumb"..made some really "dumb" personal fouls, Stupid decisions…….Overall though, that's what a division game should be..tough, down to the end. The Redskin and Eagles game were embarrassing, this was just a tough loss.

To be fair, we were decimated on defense. Breaux left in the 1st quarter and that left us with our starting CB's as Browner and Wilson, with only Owens and Dixon as back-ups.

Kikaha got hurt also and left us with Mike Mauti and James Anderson as our OLB's.

This has to be the only reason #39 is still playing.

Swann and PJ Williams, come on down (2016) !

Dennis Allen needs to hear some criticism for this loss too. You can't man up and leave the long side of the field wide open against the most physical/mobile QB in the league and a good RB. Somebody should have been shifted out wide to that side for contain. It should be simple - defenses even know to do this at the high school level.

Re: Saints lose to Carolina and 4th in a row

I was encouraged with the way we play. We were competitive it's just we lack talent and injuries sure aren't helping. We really need a #1 offensive weapon. Need some guard help and D line help. With Lewis and Breaux at corner. Not to mention Swann and PJ coming back next year we should have a solid secondary. Im liking Allen as our DC. Get someone who can constantly rush the passers and we are good. Oh and fire Vitt etc etc.

There literally aren't enough injuries in the world to justify playing Browner. He gets beat on almost every single play, and has no chance of improving. He's not a young player, and he's got a horrible attitude. So what do we do? Put him back out there, of course... Inexplicable.

I don't care who you put out there. You can't keep letting one player get away with murder if you expect your players to respect you.

Disagree Hagan... Our OLB's were asked to cover the slot WR, the TE, the FB, the RB and the QB. They stood no chance.
