Re: We need to go after a big receiver in Free Agency
It had nothing to do with what school he went to. He had 3 years to acclimate to the NFL. Thats almost an entire college career but spent in the real NFL and not college. He had every recource available to him to be successful and acheive.Toon did not work out because he wasnt talented enough.

Re: We need to go after a big receiver in Free Agency
First off. We haven't developed a wide receiver since Curtis Johnson left. I believe that he is still available after Tulane let him go. This is one of Payton's old drinking buddies I want on the team and hope he and Sean are in close contact waiting on the end of the season. I think Henry Ellard is our current wide receivers coach who hasn't developed talent yet. And before you say Snead is good. He was listed as a developmental prospect when he actually was much farther along. His draw backs in the draft process were his size and speed. But he's a coaches son and is smart.
Anyway, Drew needs a true number one at this stage of the game. If we can bring in a player who plays a back up role somewhere else with potential then I'm in. But we can't take a risk on another splash in free agency. Basically, we have so many holes to fill that it's not top on my list anymore. |

Re: We need to go after a big receiver in Free Agency
All I know is that our rookie middle linebacker outscored our offense in the 1st half of the Carolina game. We played good defense in the 1st half, and Carolina is a great defensive team. We just ain't got no depth for any 2nd half against any physical team. Credit Brees & the offensive coaches for scoring like they did.

He isn't getting the proper praise because the overall D has been so bad but Stephone is a keeper. He is playing up to his draft status & then some. |

Re: We need to go after a big receiver in Free Agency
We need a stud DT, a pass rushing DE, and two beastly guards before we pick anything else. Then, we need CB and S. No projects with upside.

Robert Nkemdiche DT/DE Mississppi 6032 296 4.86 vs Jalen Ramsey, S/CB, Florida State, 6005, 202, 4.49 Pick 7 is a whole different cast of players Jaylon Smith OLB Noter Dame 6025 240 4.67 vs Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame 6055 315 5.17 vs Laquon Treadwell WR Mississippi 6031 210 4.52 At CB you do have some solid scrappy types. That will contribute right out of the gate. Run support and tackling has to be key IMO so a couple I like are round 3 guys. Think Mike McKenzie types give or take an inch Desmond King Eric Murray We would need a whole lot of luck to get this draft to work out right. The key maybe picking ahead of the Ravens. You know they will not let defense get past them. But it is still early we have all the bowls to get through. Keep an eye out for WR Tajae Sharpe he accepted an invitation the East West Shrine and NFLPA games. I would not be surprised to see him as a long shot that ends up as a late invite to the senior bowl. I really like this kid. |

Two words why this is not the move to make: Cap Space
We are already overloaded with FA who are over priced and under performing. How about we develop some talent through...wait for it... The Draft? |

Re: We need to go after a big receiver in Free Agency
I think we have two. Give these two guys time. Brandin Cooks, Brandon Coleman had a good game against a very good Panthers defense. Next year could be a their break out year.
