Whats the worst that can happen?

Perhaps his inexperience results in several bad throws that put our WR's and RB's in a position to get hurt? Or he holds on to too long and suffers a career ending injury?

Lets roll the dice, injuries to key players be damned!!!
Hmmmmm......I don't see it. Game film baby.

Ah, "worked for Rodgers"... common fallacy to think that Rodgers is as good as he is because he sat behind Favre for 2 years. But for every Aaron Rodgers who sat behind someone for a period of time there is:
An Eli Manning who was "thrown to the wolves" game 9? of his rookie year. Done pretty well for himself.
A Ben Roethlisberger who started from day 1 his rookie year. Done pretty well for himself.
A Russell Wilson who started from day 1 his rookie year. Done pretty well for himself.
A Joe Flacco who started from day 1 his rookie year. Done pretty well for himself.

And those are just the ones with SB rings (6 rings total the past 10 SBs) who come off the top of my head.

And yes, there are plenty of them who were "thrown to the wolves" their first season and failed... but the funny thing, of the recent QBs drafted who sat behind someone for a couple of years and started for the same thing that drafted them (which doesn't really happen much anyway), none of them have had much success, other than Rodgers. So it seems Rodgers is the exception, not the rule. (Cousins is still TBD).

Yes, because only rookies do that. Like Drew never forces throws in the middle or anything.

College football has changed. Players are coming out readier than ever to play in the NFL. Grayson comes from a pro-style college offense, where he was asked to make multiple reads. He also has mobility, and will tuck it and run if no one is open; he can also make those roll out throws that Rodgers is so good at making.
Not to mention your not allowed to hit receivers coming across the middle any more.

Re: Report: Drew Brees has torn plantar fascia in right foot

Some people may feel it's tanking, but playing Grayson now does two possible things...

Gives an evaluation if he is a quality starter for life, soon-to-come, after Brees...

These are expendable games, we are eliminated for this season, what better opportunity for him to gain experience in regular season games?!?

Second, if the worst is losing the remaining games, is moving up in the draft order such a bad thing to get even better players for next season?!?

Play for both the now and the future...

It's just how well you can handle the pain. If anything this injury to Drew might make them throw the quick slants that I've been wanting to see since we drafted Cooks. It could also be quite possible this Sunday could be Drew's last home game in a Saints uniform. I bet first beer he plays.
Not Brees' call. Payton simply needs to declare him inactive and that's the end of that.

What exactly is the upside to having Brees play injured at this point? If the team was fighting for a playoff spot, that would be one thing. But this season is over. So risking the franchise to stroke his ego would be the height of stupidity.

In fact the team should put Brees on IR and be done with it. Let Grayson get a couple of games of seasoning. Playing live regular season football can do nothing but help develop Grayson going into the offseason.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

And this team for as brilliant as it's been, has done some equally stupid things...

Loyalty is one thing so long as it doesn't affect the overall long-term health of the team...
