true enough but as a rule of thumb it is rare the saints make the pick. it will be interesting to see how this all works out for the best LB in the draft. who will role the dice and when?

He'll probably end up on a squad with a solid defensive roster ... Arizona, Seattle, Denver or a team with a ton of draft picks like the Titans (6 picks within the first 3 rounds).

I keep hearing that the draft is all about the future, no ?
We aren't close to sniffing a championship? Well I believe if GB goes to the sb next year then the saints will have to wait until 2019(Packers, Cowboys or Giants, Seahawks a division pattern that has gone on since 2004). Can Brees still play then?

While I don't always drink the PFF cool aid, this article does a very good job explaining defensive line alignment and assignments in the FBS and NFL game today...

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...ckle-position/

Just throwing top ranked players at the first two rounds by default won't guarantee success or a turnaround in our defensive line play...

Don't agree that Sheldon Rankins will have the success in the NFL as he has flashed at Louisville or at the offseason draft process, because his limited size...

Having the right players in the right assignments with the right skill set should be paramount, and this article illustrates that point and can help give a better understanding going into the draft...

The article may be restricted to membership, but it's a very good read...

While I have issues with the top of the draft I really like the quality and depth of players the rest of the way. I can not remember having short lists so long for rounds 4 to 7 ever. This draft does not fall of the deep end. Plenty of extremely good mid and late round talent to had.

Gotta get more late round pick short list of players I still have as 7/UDFA

Quinton Jefferson DT/DE Maryland 6040 289 4.95
Josh Tupou, NT, Colorado 6021 325 5.10
Juston Burris FS/SS/CB /NC STATE 6002 212
Tevin Carter S Utah 6012 2221
Mike Jordan, CB/FS, Missouri Western 6006 200 4.50
Caleb Benenoch OT/OG UCLA 6054 311 4.98
Trevor Davis, WR California 6011 188 4.42
Eddie Yarbrough OLB/ILB/DE Wyoming 6030 251 4.70
Clayton Fejedelem S Illinios 6000 205 4.53
Stephen Weatherly DE/OLB Vanderbilt 6043 267 4.61
Dean Lowery DE NW 6056 296 4.87
Jonah Austin, G/OT, Nicholls State 6052 330 5.35
Brad Craddock K Maryland 6003 192 4.88
Eric Rawls, DB, Kentucky State 6020 195 4.41
Peter Mortll P Minnesota 6012 192 4.94
Ryker Mathews OT BYU 6052 320 5.26
Mekale McKay WR Cicinatti 6042 195 4.55
Montese Overton OLB/ILB East Carolina 6015 221 4.65

UDFA look to be the best crop we have seen in years.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

Myles Jack - medical concerns even after the rechecks. still no running appears to be an issue also. so

1. Los Angeles Rams (7-9) - Jared Goff - home town sell them tickets pick
2. Cleveland Browns (3-13) - Joey Bosa - another home town ticket selling pick
3. San Diego Chargers (4-12) - Laremy Tunsil
4. Dallas Cowboys (4-12) - Jalen Ramsey
5. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11) - DeForest Buckner

Philadelphia trade with Baltimore -

6. Philadelphia Eagles (7-9) - Carson Wentz
7. San Francisco 49ers (5-11) - Ronnie Stanley
8. Baltimore Ravens (5-11) - Vernon Hargreaves III
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-10) - Sheldon Rankins
10. New York Giants (6-10) - Ezekiel Elliott
11. Chicago Bears (6-10) - Shaq Lawson

12. New Orleans Saints (7-9) - still thing the saints will get trade down offer from teams wanting to jump ahead of Miami who will almost definitely with great probability go CB.
