OG needs to be addressed, no issues there. TE really needs to be addressed as well, maybe as high as the 3rd. Safety I don't agree with. We have good DBs (aside from Browner), but they need support from a pass rush. We have 1 good D-lineman in Jordan, outside of him we have a bunch of rotational/practice squad guys. If we keep giving QBs 5 seconds to throw it wont matter what DBs we have. |

I advocated drafting Coleman, but the guy has stone hands and simply can't be trusted in that same situation to go up and get the ball and convert critical third downs... We've got to get the safety play to improve and shut down those big pass plays that kill us; Byrd can't stay healthy and on the field; Vaccaro, well, he just seems like a real stupid player with bone-headed personal fouls and late assignment pickups (Harper was just slow in his); the guys whose names I've posted would be there when we pick and that's why I've got 'em there... I think we could have a great, honest pass rush if we schemed and got ALL our pass rushers on the field - and the 3-4, which many of them are the fit, would do that... Glad to hear we agree on Guard and Tight End; I think this'll be a deep tight end class and my guy will probably move up after the combine, pro days... |

I think drafting 2 TE might be a simple way of boosting the run game and help out alot on shallow to mid routes. Maybe between 3-5th round. Might take a trade to get them!!

You don't draft for need, and draft talk before free agency is stoopid.

Cook as a number 1? I still need to see him used more as a WR than a toy. this year was a huge improvement over last year so i am waiting to see what year three brings.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
We drafted for need last year, it worked out well.
Drafting BPA is what lead to the scouting department getting cleaned out. I guess you can say that drafting BPA never goes away... you still draft BPA, just at positions of need...lol |

That kinda thinking probably got the previous scouting team dismissed from the team...
Really wish you'd add your knowledge on potential Saints prospects to the discussion, alot of forum members would appreciate that input... |

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
I have been waiting all year for draft talk lol But that is me. I spend all season long watching college way too many college games and talking with people outside of B&G about players so I can not help but get giddy at the end of the season.
I do not believe FA should influence the draft issue big boards one bit, that in a round about way is building a team based on needs. FA address needs at position with proven vets. But to let those moves influence your big board or the players you draft is using needs as a governing factor in your war room. any ways Drafting BPA is the best approach IMO. If that means you move up or down to get a player that you targeted as the BPA that also fills a need then you are going about things the right way. But if you are sitting there and a player falls into your lap as the BPA you have to take them. Cam Jordan is a great example. |
