If SP is traded, the following is our baseline.

At the time Jon Gruen was traded, he had a record of 38-26. He won the AFC west twice in 4 seasons, once getting the Raiders to the AFC title game.

Oakland got 2 first rd picks, 2 second rd picks and 8 million bucks from Tampa Bay for Jon Gruden.

Sean Payton is 93-61. Won 3 division titles, 5 playoff appearances, 2 NFC Championship appearances, and a Super Bowl title

...and some media think we'd accept a second rd pick for him
Let's start at what Oakland got for Gruden. Saints should get no less than that for a coach much more successful. IMO Saints should be demanding 3 first round picks and every other pick of that team's 2016 nfl draft. If they want a SB winning coach then give us your entire 2016 draft and the next 2 first rounders.

I could see that ... young & talented or maybe he sticks around and takes over the gig once Bill Bellicheck retires. They have had a lot of success up there.

That Miami job will be a headache for someone.

If Sean Payton leave, Loomis will follow right behind him down the road. Trading Sean isn't plausible. Loomis have his hand into too many cookie jars he need to focus on with saints or pelicans

We know change is coming. IMHO, SP stays, Brees is extended with a restructure, we get a new coach or two, we we have a kick arse draft.

I totally agree.......mostly. We should bring in a new DC, A new ST coach, LB coach and a new D-line coach to start.

Curtis Jphnson is available last I heard. The current WR coach may have coached up Cooks, Snead and Coleman but I don't know if it was natural talent and hard work or good coaching.

We'll see if Ireland is the real deal after the draft. If he can replicate last years production we will be much more competitive. Also, if we could hit on a couple of Good FA's this time around this team will have the depth to survive injury riddled seasons like last season. If we could field our starters the Saints would kick arse on both offense and defense. We are not that far away. Have you ever heard the term "worse to first"?

I thought the press were extremely classless Sunday afternoon. 1 hour after a road win against an arch rival to finish the season, they begin the questioning asking about job status? RIDICULOUS! I wouldn't be surprised if Payton leaves just because of the New Orleans media(Although going to NEW YORK won't be any better). No questions about the game? What he saw for the future of this team? That should be on a segement of 'C'mon Man'

I am very disappointed as you can all tell.

I just can't see them letting coach Payton go.

If Payton thinks the New Orleans media and press is bad, he should just wait until he ends up in San Francisco or New York.... They will get one earful of his "he has a knee" and "next question" vague non-answer type stuff at the podium, and the press there will be grabbing the pitchforks and skewering him on his own words. To paraphrase the Trumpster, those guys are sharks, they are not nice people....the reporters will absolutely rip him to pieces and eat him alive on live television, if Payton goes to a market like that, God help him....

After listening at Mort on ESPN regarding SP and possibly "landing spots", I don't think NY will be a viable option as they (Giants) may not be willing to give a lot of compensation for Sean.

The saga continues.
