And Kevin Dodd was impressive last night.
I'll admit, I over looked Clemson's defense. Well coached and talented players along the front 7. |

Clemson had more luck, some good players and a reasonable schedule than a "special" defensive scheme this year. Bama's defense had a better showing this year, but they did show a lack of being able to adjust at halftime last night. The sign of a good pro coach is a different, better team coming out after half time. Our defense, our team deserves more than a project DC coming out of a college just like they deserve more than a project in the first three rounds of the draft. |

Look even the No.1 team in the nation, at least until last night, doesn't have NFL-caliber players at every position... But Bama had to work their arse's off for every yard; this was a fantastic battle of two very evenly matched teams... |

I think Morton (WR coach) did a nice job last season but would you bring Curtis Johnson back ?

But the results are there, in so far as he took a Reserve/Devlopmental CastOff, Willie Snead, and made him a nearly 1000 rec yd receiver... Now how much of that is player, coaching and/or system?!? Regardless, results were there... And then Coleman was able to step up in place of an injured Colston and had some moments, even with those untrustworthy stonehands... So where you'd put Curtis Johnson with the WR corps producing?!? And that's despite having your No. 1 in twilight, a budding star with limited size, and an underneath, average-speed route runner, and that's about it... |

Saints coaching staff set for huge meeting with focus on 2016 season | FOX Sports
The New Orleans Saints are now turning their attention towards the 2016 season. While the players will likely take some additional time off, for the coaches on the Saints staff, they'll enjoy a week away, and then it's back to a massive meeting that will focus on pretty much anything you could imagine. When the whole Sean Payton drama was finally put to bed, the head coach spoke a bit about the gameplan moving forward this off-season. Via Joel A. Erickson of The New Orleans Advocate: “We’ll meet collectively as a personnel department and coaching staff and go through each player on the roster,” Payton said Wednesday. “Vision, grade, strengths, weaknesses (for each player) and after that meeting takes place, you transition into your scouting, the college draft, Senior Bowl and then any potential free agent we would want to coach or someone else could put their eyes on.” So Next Week Is The Summit Meeting For The Saints Staff... |

Re: Saints 2016 Coaching Staff
Some background on the Saints "Utility" Man, Offensive Linemen Coach, Dan Roushar...
Born September 27, 1960 (age 55) Similar background, region as HC Sean Payton (Eastern Illinois) as he played quarterback for Northern Illinois, 1981-82... First coaching gig was with HC Bill Lynch as Offensive Backfield Coach for Butler University in Indiana from 86-88 (winning Heartland Conference '87, '88) and promoted to Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach from 89-92,winning Heartland Conference in '89 with Lynch and the Midwest Intercollegiate Football Conference in '91(HC Bob Bartolomeo) and again in '92 (HC Ken LaRose)... Coached Rhode Island's offensive line in 1993... In 1994 he was Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Ball State where Bill Lynch had been OC; of note, Saints Coach Mike Neu just took over as Head Coach and WR Willie Snead played... Joined the big times and Lou Tepper's Illini as the QB Coach in 1995; in 1996, he took over Tackles and Tight Ends... Returned to his alma mater in 1997, Northern Illinois, to coach the Offensive Line under HC Joe Novak; from 1998 to 2002 he added Offensive Coordinator to his O-line responsibilities... Returned to the Illini in 2003 to coach RBs under HC Ron Turner where the team won one game; in 2004 added Offensive Coordinator duties; yes, Pierre Thomas was a student under Roushar for 2003 and 2004; he left when Ron Turner's tenure came to an end, unable to recruit in the Big 10... In 2005-06, he coached the Cincinnati Bearcats Offensive Line with HC Mark Dantonio... Followed Mark Dantonio taking the same position with Michigan State (Offensive Line) from 2007–10; continued a trend of being promoted to Offensive Coordinator, plus TEs from 2011–2012... Joined the Saints in 2013 and coached RBs through 2014; last season he was the TEs coach... And now he's the Offensive Line Coach... Believe the offensive line is in good hands; this is a good thing... |
Re: Saints 2016 Coaching Staff
We were bringing all the old coach's back, I was waiting to see if Kromer would have been back. He may have his issues but he was the best O line coach this team has ever had.
|
Re: Saints 2016 Coaching Staff
I like the fact that Dan Roushar has coached most everything on the offensive side of the ball and that he played QB himself. He will have plenty of knowledge of how protection schemes needs to work.
|
Re: Saints 2016 Coaching Staff
Not sure the coaching changes are through...
Can see hiring at least two (2) assistants to the assistants, Defensive Backs and Offensive Line... And gotta believe Defensive Line and maybe special teams will be addressed... Special Teams may be off the hook with some improved play this season... |

Believe Saints coaches are set for the annual summit meeting...
After a week off, Saints coaching staff will dive deep into offseason work | The Advocate — Baton Rouge, Louisiana For that reason, the decisions that seem to be looming over the Saints — particularly decisions on core veterans like Marques Colston and Zach Strief — are only in the beginning stages right now. When Payton met with the players in the days after the win over Atlanta in the season finale, the focus was more on 2015 than what the team might do in 2016. “I spent a half an hour with Marques the other day in my office, and Zach today for half an hour,” Payton said Wednesday. “Nothing about next year, the future. It was really about this past year, how they are feeling, what’s their health like, just those types of things.” |

Re: Saints 2016 Coaching Staff
Ted Lewis: New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton's decision shows loyalty to community, fans | The Advocate — Baton Rouge, Louisiana
...But seldom do you hear a coach talk about his affection for his adopted community and its people as Payton did. “I never take for granted our fan base and how supportive they’ve been,” he said at one point during his nearly hour- long appearance. “Someone said this to me when I moved here in ’06: There’s something about this city, and you hear that initially, and look, there was a lot back then that was uniquely different because of post-Katrina. But there is something unique and different. “I can’t put my finger on it. I mean, I drive through a pothole every day like you guys do, and get upset. When the water is down in a certain parish, I have to come here to shower, just like everyone else might have to go somewhere else. And yet it grows on you, and it is home.” |
Re: Saints 2016 Coaching Staff
Dennis Allen as Defensive Coordinator not necessarily a done deal?!?
Sean Payton says there is a ‘likelihood’ Dennis Allen will return to Saints as defensive coordinator | The Advocate — Baton Rouge, Louisiana Sean Payton gave Dennis Allen something of an endorsement during his Wednesday news conference, although the Saints coach said he has not yet made a decision on whether the defensive coordinator will return next season. And that goes for all members of the coaching staff, though Payton did say there is a “likelihood” Allen will return as defensive coordinator next season. “I’m going to visit with Dennis specifically, and I think that in all likelihood that will be the case,” Payton said. “It’s just a little bit ahead of the game. I just spent 10 minutes with the staff. “He was real good coming in in a tough position. I thought he was organized, detailed. I think there are a few pieces that we have to help him with that can help our team and I think being charge of it for the course of the offseason (will help). There were a lot of good things he did.” Allen took over for Rob Ryan, who was fired after a Week 10 loss at Washington, and presided over the final six games of the season. Under Ryan, the defense allowed an average of 424.3 yards per game. That figure dropped to 396.2 yards with Allen overseeing the defense. The points also dropped from 31.5 points per game to 26.8 from Ryan to Allen. Payton said he will evaluate all members of the staff in the coming weeks and months but it was too soon to announce who will be back next season. |
