Really good read.

I liked this part:

"And at left guard, Senio Kelemete, whom Strief recently called “the most-ascending” player on the team, has done a standout job in spot duty and has quietly been one of the keys to success this season."

Sounds like the light may finally have came on for Kelemete and that is not one day too soon.

Credit Roushar for the turnaround in not only Kelemete, but Peat as well...

Now to figure why Lelito's progession arc flattened so fast...injury?

Wouldn't it be a great story if Benson invited Jeff Fisher in for a cup of gumbo and let him watch practice?

Saints FO should be passing out pink slips to the above referenced coaches upon completion of the season. These areas are a direct result of the disappointing 2016 campaign.

2017 or bust ... all hands on deck.

Are these your grades or did they come from elsewhere?

I think you're dead on with the grades but I wouldn't have been as generous to Bill Johnson.

I think the improvement in the D-line this season has been more about personnel than it has coaching. My idea of a good coach is someone that makes the whole greater than the sum of it's parts. A couple times this season I've thought one unit or another played above there heads; The secondary considering the injuries, The O-line, considering the shambles they were in preseason, the wide outs, considering their inexperience... I don't think I've ever thought that once about the D-line going all the way back to when Johnson joined the Saints.

After all of the exit interviews are complete and the dust settles in a few weeks, I think Mcmahon will be relieved of his duties as special teams coach.

I try not to be the guy calling for the guy's job - any guy's job. But that's speaking generally. If ever there was a need for change, it's our special teams.

Yeah, 44, gotta agree with you in that Ingram/Hightower really got things in gear after I posted that grade.

Still, disappointed they couldn't get Murphy on the field nor get Spiller to get his game in gear...

Yeah. Look at Ingram, first 1000yd season and a 5.1 ypc average.

All I want is for the saints to find a linebacker coach and for Loomis to stop window shopping for the top free agent and go after what we really truly need is a pair of offensive guards.

How I would've enjoyed keeping Kenny Stills over Brand(!)n Cooks. If Cooks don't stop his crying over the ball we going to have another T.O. and Mcnabb situation. "Closed mouths don't get fed" pleaseeeeeee!!!

Speaking of LB coaches, the one guy I would want is Mike Singletary. I truly believe he could make a difference.

Payton has got to realize he's gotta replace Vitt.

Vitt defenders argue he hasn't been given the talent - Well he's now had Stephone Anthony, a First Rounder & Consensus Fav of many established scouts...

Anthony flashed and made really impressive plays in his rookie season and somehow regressed in just one season?!?

Dennis Allen and Sean Payton were even forced to get involved and jump into the situation and defend their position for his benching this season...

Can still my uncles arguing during a Saints game - "It's the coaching, stupid!!!"

I'd love for Sean Payton to read this interview, instead of an autograph, I'd hand him this to read and reflect on...

Harvard Business Review: To Build a Winning Team: An Interview with Head Coach Bill Walsh by Richard Rapaport

It's still a great read after all this time and it'd be appropriate passing of the torch to the best offensive mind since Coach Walsh...

All I can say is that it's about d*mn time for the first and second round pick...

He definitely was worth the FA money, but was an awful draft pick for Payton/Loomis...

Agreed. Seeing his draft status he would be expected to rush for 1000 every year. But it was the same thing with Bush.

I don't know what to think as it relates to Stephone.

Well this is what we know...

Anthony was a consensus first round pick among many established scouts...

He was in the running for Rookie of the Year and set rookie records at the position...

He made plays at the position that hadn't been made for the Saints in some time...

...this includes the NFL's first defensive return on a 2pt conversion...

Joe Vitt is the Linebackers coach...

The Saints have not drafted and developed a linebacker in Vitt's tenure...

One of the arguments in defense of Vitt was the Saints hadn't drafted a first or second round pick at the position...

The Saints still haven't developed a linebacker at the position...

Payton in midseason/lateseason interviews in response to Anthony inquiries that D.A. was spending alot of time with that unit...

These are things we know...

I see the Jets let go a ton of their coaching staff including D line/LB coach Pepper Johnson. I wonder if the Saints FO has any interest in adding any coaches to the defensive side of things? He has the hardware (SB rings) both as a player AND coach.

Surely Pepper could help our LB department.
