Many will restructure and absolutely should be back. Strief, Spiller, Hawthorne and Colston can all be major role players next year.
Colston's done, he only shows up in statement games.

Really like the guy and hope he stays healthy, just trying to be realistic.
We don't need him. He's not the right fit for us and the guy needs volume to do what he wants to do, a combination of what he was under Gailey. I don't think that will work with Ingram on the team. And the screen game is no longer effective. And with that schedule we have next year it will not work.

Jenkins is expendable for someone who is better.

I think sometimes it's best to replace what's on the roster for better at a position than to just plug holes and hope for the best.

Jenkins isnt replaceable for 700k you'll save cutting him. Even as a back up he's worth keeping. Drescher is earning more than him.
He hasn't been what i hoped he would but he's worth the money he is getting

John Jenkins might not be horrible be he certainly isn't good either. Kevin Williams who played very limited minutes had almost as many tackles as Jenkins (18 vs 23 for Jenkins)... Opposing teams avg. 4.9 yds per attempt. We were 31st vs the run. Certainly not all his fault but he started and played the most except when benched in favor of Davison (himself ineffective at times). This was his third year and I didn't see anything that made me believe he isn't anything other than a Remi Ayodele clone. We need an upgrade big time. If anything we need a pocket closing NT to help the ends.

Upgrade is needed.

Humber is a cheap backup and he will go no where. Browner will keep his roster spot because I don't think they believe freeing up 900K is worth 5.35 million in dead money. Spiller would also only free up about 800K and a 3.75 million dead money. Ellerbe would make sense because he carries no dead money and would free up about 5 million. Hawthorne carries a 4.5 million in cap hit which half would be in dead money. Colston also would make sense because cutting him would give us 2.3 million in dead money but free up over 3 million. The first cut I would make though is Morstead. A punter is not worth 4.45 million a year. He only carries 1.2 million in dead money and would free up 3.25 million.

Morstead, Hawthorne, Colston and Ellerbe would be my guess. 11.25 freed up just with those 4. If they wanna stay make them eat crow and sign at league minimum.

Kevin Williams logged more snaps than Jenkins (564 to 538), and they both finished in our top 5 defenders.

Most of the damage running against us was outside the DT's.

Jenkins is an above average DT.

Plus when Brees restructures for a 9 or more million less, that's 20 million+.
