Spiller has ALWAYS been a tease. Great talent. Flashes of said talent. Never healthy. Never consistently produced. Browner, Spiller, Colston, Ellerbe, Hawthorne, and Humber need to be gone. Restructure Brees. That will free up around $19 million. Draft the best player availabe. HOPEFULLY on defense. Although, the Saints need a G, TE, and WR on offense.

Humber is a cheap backup and he will go no where. Browner will keep his roster spot because I don't think they believe freeing up 900K is worth 5.35 million in dead money. Spiller would also only free up about 800K and a 3.75 million dead money. Ellerbe would make sense because he carries no dead money and would free up about 5 million. Hawthorne carries a 4.5 million in cap hit which half would be in dead money. Colston also would make sense because cutting him would give us 2.3 million in dead money but free up over 3 million. The first cut I would make though is Morstead. A punter is not worth 4.45 million a year. He only carries 1.2 million in dead money and would free up 3.25 million.

Morstead, Hawthorne, Colston and Ellerbe would be my guess. 11.25 freed up just with those 4. If they wanna stay make them eat crow and sign at league minimum.
