Re: What the Superbowl showed me
The Super bowl showed me that it in many ways is a horrible spectacle. To much focus on half time shows and commercials and anything EXCEPT football. The darn game takes 5 hours to play. Compare that to the Soccer World Cup where its all about the game and the match takes 2 hours and that is including halftime.
And Von Miller is a BEAST. |

I have nothing against pre-game festivities.. its a party. But once the game starts, it should be like all other games. Screw the damn halftime show. I've never seen a single one that actually added value to the Superbowl. Its like a tattoo on a beautiful woman. WHY??? |

Look, I generally try to be an optimist, but what's up with all the commercials beaming with political correctness projecting happy, happy, joy, joy feel-good to the butt-hurt chronically depressed disenfranchised crowd?!? And I really don't need to know what the **** Obama thinks about football - the only football I want the prez focusing on is the one with the codes... Miss the days of simple humored commercials like Tom Landry surrounded by Redskins and the Daughters of the Revolution asking Where's The Beef? Look, I like my friends, getting together for the game; but when it's the Superbowl, you get the wives, some are nice ice candy (seen and not heard), but then some are in intolerable PMS mode and want to change the channel mid-play to see how the Puppy Bowl is going...and when you change it back, the kids start crying, oh for the love of St. Michael, their kids...whose vocabulary doesn't include the words "Don't Touch," "Stop Doing That," and "Daddy can we go home now" |

all of this garbage is for the non-fan. when the Saints won I did not watch a single commercial- paused and fast-forwarded the DVR. don't even know who played at halftime |

SELF DEPORT Wives or husbands, not involved or clueless, need to understand for this short period of time, one Sunday, a year, stands alone on the calendar to be void of mindless social responsibilities required in polite society. And if, god willing, the Saints are in the Superbowl...again...climb on board the bus but please continue to self segregate because I am not gonna tell anyone AGAIN what team is in the BLACK jersey. |
Re: What the Superbowl showed me
I sat down in front of the TV for the first time in the middle of Gaga. She didn't suck from all I could tell.
I left the room at the half, built another samitch, and arrived back at my chair just in time for the musical entertainment. As usual I was impressed with the Mars kid. The rest of it sucked, but it gave me time to eat my samitch, turn up another glass of orange juice, and I even had some primp time just before the 3rd quarter. I thought the commercials were hit or miss. The one I liked most - the Dorito sonogram one, where the baby...well, I thought it was hilarious - is the one that offended the most I hear. That's funny. Overall, I didn't find it overbearing but I paid little attention to the pre-game stuff. I could have walked to Super Bowl City at the port but 'never got around to it.' Then again, I would have watched from dawn if I knew in the end Cam would blow the gasket he blew (and keeps blowing). So, you know, I thought it was a pretty good time. |

Re: What the Superbowl showed me
Btw not taking away from Denver, but Denver could have very well lost that SB had they played Green Bay. I mean Green Bay has a qb who you do not hold down twice. The packers were a OT loss away from the NFCCG and had they had Nelson playing they would have won. Compared to a blowout a few weeks earlier against that same team. GB also witnessed that sb defense week 8, playing them again would have been closer even without Nelson. With him, they win.
I know everyone wants to give all the credit to the defense but Cam has never been clutch against tough teams. Show me a team he's beat with a defense like that? |
