I would settle for two of the better backups, WLB Mark Barron and CB Trumaine Johnson. Two solid up and coming young pups that would be an upgrade and cap friendly for at least the next 4 years. |
Re: Trade Down at 12?
Trading down would be a good idea this year. We have a lot of positions that need filling and we need as many picks as we can to do it. We lack cap space and the draft is the best place to fix our problems.

If we can nail two front seven picks in the draft we can compete with anyone if we stay healthy. We aren't as far away as some people think. If we had just fielded our starters throughout the year we'd have a winning record and possibly made a little run in the playoffs. We have holes but some of our depth will step into a starting role.(think of Snead last year) The schedule looks tougher than last year but so does our team.:bng: |
Re: Trade Down at 12?
I may question the overall talent level in top ten and some of the hype for a few in the top twenty.
But from that point on it has a nice slow decline all the way through day two. I really like this draft all the way through the 4th. Day three has more than a few really interesting risk picks. I am still a strong believer to build a team you gotta get player that stick on the club in day 2. That is how the Pats always seem to have little cap issues. mid round picks that step up and play when players are lost to FA because they want more than the wants to pay the bench is deep enough to absorb the lose. |
Re: Trade Down at 12?
Have some pre-negotitated trades on Ready 5 so as to move back and pick up a R2 or R3 pick and select a big defensive end/tackle like Jarran Reed later in the first...
But wouldn't pull the trigger right away as a Top 5 talent almost always falls... |

Re: Trade Down at 12?
Can anyone guess the last time we traded down with our 1st round pick?
Hint... Rhymes with Nero! |
Re: Trade Down at 12?
History says that we have done considerably better with late picks than early ones
I'd much rather see a late first BPA than a costly move for unproven talent. FA and later round gems are our forte- Too many Usama Youngs, Cie Grants, SJBs, Chip Vaughns, etc |
Re: Trade Down at 12?
Oh yes, I remember that guy! Absolute Zero, he was a great QB/WR/LB/DE/DT/TE/PK/P but didn't pan out. Turned out he wasn't A BEAST, had no AIR IN THE TIRES and NOTHING IN THE TANK, would't play ON THE CHEAP for the HOMETOWN DISCOUNT and didn't TRUST IN SPAGS or MICKEY!! A bitter disappointment!!
