Trade Down at 12?

My mock up to 12
1 Tennessee Titans – OT Laremy Tunsil, Ole Miss
2 Cleveland Browns – QB Jared Goff, California
3 San Diego Chargers – DE Joey Bosa, Ohio State
4 Dallas Cowboys – OLB Myles Jack,
5 Jacksonville Jaguars – OT Ronnie Stanley, Notre Dame
6 Baltimore Ravens – CB Jalen Ramsey, Florida State
7 San Francisco 49ers – DE DeForest Buckner
8 Miami Dolphins – CB Vernon Hargreaves III
9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DE Shaq Lawson
10 New York Giants – WR Laquon Treadwell
11 Chicago Bears – DT A’Shawn Robinson

There is a good chance the Saints at 12 will have the remainder 3 out 4 top QBs on the board. Looks like it might be a prime spot with the Eagles picking at 13 to get more than a few calls to move up

Paxton Lynch - maybe a solid starter by mid year. Solid upside
Connor Cook - can step in and play right away.
Carson Wentz - late draft day hype with a skill set that ... god only knows

13 Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles seem non committal to Sam Bradford at this point in time.
Swap 12 for R1-13 and R4-110

15 La Rams

The closest team that QB is keeping them from the promise land? Rams have two seconds so that opens a bunch of options. But for simplicity sake

12 for R1-15 and R3-76

22 Houston Texans

Second closest team that QB is keeping them from the promise land?

12 for R1-22, R2-52, R4-116

Would you pull the trigger?

OR

What if either team called up said keep your pick and send us Drew and you can have our draft. (Pull a Ditka)

**Foot note i keep this simple no bonus points for moving out of the top 20 and all that stuff.

Re: Trade Down at 12?

I think the Bears go LB which will free up

A'Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama

I don't see how you pass on this guy.

I dunno. As others have mentioned, this is a very deep year for DT. Mike Mayock recently said as many as 12 could carry a first round grade. I would rather see them go DE, LB or G in the first and then pick up a DT in the second or third.

Re: Trade Down at 12?

Every time I see Conner Cook's name pop up, I shake my head. The guy just isn't that good... Sorry. Decent college QB, but not NFL material by any measure that I have seen.

As for the Saints, I still don't have a consensus in my own mind about who I'd like them to take. I only know that I would like a true lane clogging DT (something we haven't had since Norman Hand) a mauling OG and an OLB who can rush the passer AND cover. I doubt all three needs will be addressed, but 2 out of 3 would be great. This draft looks deep with solid talent, but lacks guys who I'd say "we HAVE to get him". Very few of those... I'm sure someone will surprise us though, and I hope we get whoever that is.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

We have to rebuild the D. We do anything with that pick other than this guy then everyone should be looking for a new job!!!

You build the D from the inside out. You get a this guy and then we start working out from there.

I think the lesson we can take from the ones who have been winning the SB's is DEFENSE!!! Rebuild this damn D FINALLY and then we can start adding to the O. QB and G/T next season for sure but right now everything we go goes to D.

I feel you and I felt the same way but we need a LB'er badly and if the draft really is that deep at DT then we better grab a guy who can stop the TE.

Re: Trade Down at 12?

I still got to go G in the first, fixes the O's passing and run game, grab a tough TE in the late 4th. I'm all for trading down a few spots for more picks a trade for a 1st and 2nd would go a long way. I totally agree that the D needs to start upfront in the trenches and agree that a bull needs to lead the charge. NT 2nd round, NT 3rd round ( might as well do it right), TE 4th round, I'm hoping we get a really good OLB in FA( couple good ones will be FA) 5th OT for depth , 6th WR. 7th K I'm tied of xtra points and field goals being an issue at times, needs to have a big leg and accurite as hell.

Re: Trade Down at 12?

I wrote a thread about this earlier . The Rams and Texas might have to move ahead of the Eagles to get a QB they / value . IMHO I would move back to #15 for a third rd pick. Players could also be trade bait as the Rams are stacked on D. The Texans would have to pony up quite a bit more like a 2 and a three.
There's a lot of talent available in the 2nd rd . We also have lots of spots to fill and draft picks are salary cap helpful. After FA we will be able to determine more about draft needs. The Rams scenario is much more palatable. However, there will be lots of players in the second rd that could improve our talent level. Things will get very interesting after the combine . Can't wait. Hope springs eternal for the ever suffering Saints fan.
