It really hits you how slow our defense is when you watch the number 1 defense in football literally win the SuperBowl on their own.

Breaux Anthony Kikaha Vaccaro Given the FACT they ranked so low, yes the rest is crap. Ellerbe made his name playing next Ray Lewis and hasn't done a thing since leaving Balt |

Byrd, Vaccaro, Lewis, Breaux, Anthony, Kikaha, Ellerbe, and Jordan are not slow. Throw in PJ Williams and Davis Tull and we have pretty good speed. We could definitely use some more speed at OLB and DT/DE, but I wouldn't say were slow anymore. |

Re: Saints Sign Coby Fleener 5 year deal
So, this contract is really a two year prove it deal. Even at seven million a year which seems a little expensive it's great to give Drew a big target.

I would take Fleener all day over Sanu too. Still too much money. Right player, wrong deal.

Just happy that Drew has another big athletic receiver who's a better blocker than Graham was.(I think) |

NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Coby Fleener 6 ft 6 in 247 lb. 40ydx4.52 s Vertical 37 in bench press 27 reps He have the 3 "s" (size, speed & strength) to be a exceptional TE, I researched and found he need to work on blocking. His blocking is not worst than JG |
Re: Saints Sign Coby Fleener 5 year deal
No one's blocking at TE is worse than Graham was.

Re: Saints Sign Coby Fleener 5 year deal
This is the type of contract i was expecting.
4yr $20 million not 5 yr $36 million at 7 million the saints could have had some proven commodities. So many other positions were there for the picking OL, DL WR CB LB ect Coby Fleener is not a proven commodity So Byrd, Spiller and now Fleener. FA the saints went after and signed at all cost. so far this over paying for FA you really want has not paned out to well. Pray these guys really step things up and earn their pay checks for a change. hoping for the best |

We can't' consistently be almost dead last in every category and continue to ignore the situation. I think it was too much money that will keep us from getting the one or two veterans we need on defense either OLB or interior lineman with push should have been all we were in the market for and drafted at tight end.

Re: Saints Sign Coby Fleener 5 year deal
SP saw what I saw he. He's there the whole game, not just the fourth quarter. This deal was needed but it wasn't a emergency. However we were not going to go defense here, and then defense in first two rounds too. You really think SP wants Drew to go through what he went through last year? You can say the offense will be fine with protection but we are relying on Coleman and Josh Hill, sorry. It's not worth the risk.
Defense may win championships but the saints with a good defense and the same offense would have trouble getting HFA or winning the division(as 2013 showed). Oh you thought SP wants to wait until 2017? |
Re: Saints Sign Coby Fleener 5 year deal
The more troubling part is that we really haven't heard any defensive players visiting the Saints since Laurinaitis.
Could it be that defensive FAs are avoiding NOLA and are asking for too much to come there?! |

Forgive my friends for quoting myself, but I wanted to continuing illustrating a point with another link to an article... But this is exactly the kind of bullshinski, old business I don't like Free Agents bringing to the team... Jerrell Freeman tees off on Coby Fleener | ProFootballTalk (excerpt) ...“Fleener, he didn’t have the [guts],’’ Freeman told Kravitz. “That sh-t pisses me off. And he must’ve been looking in the mirror when he did the interview. “I despise guys like that,” Freeman added. “That’s what little girls do, talk about you when you’re not around. I’m a grown man. If I see something I don’t like, I’m going to go have a face-to-face convo with that player/players and we are going to get an understanding! I feel like I had a hand in building what’s over there [in Indianapolis], so he’s sh-tting on me, too. . . . That’s a ***** move.” Unfortunately, the Saints and Bears don’t play each other during the 2016 regular season. |
