Re: Nick Fairley in town

We have to assume a Brees' restructure; could clear 10-15 million of cap space easily...

voodooido 03-26-2016 11:52 AM

Re: Nick Fairley in town

According to Spotrac.com our estimated cap space is -4.698 million. Something has to be in the works with Drew. I would not be surprised to see something early next week.

Fairley, Jarran Reed, A'Shaun, Robertson, Lauranitis, Hill, Fleenor, I say the defense will be #10 and offense #2. Brees contract is done. They don't want to let the cat out of the bag yet for negotiating purposes and you know this, MAAAAANNNNNNNN!

Re: Nick Fairley in town

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Patriots are "out" on free agent DT Nick Fairley, and he's expected to sign with the Saints.

Fairley surprisingly drew very little interest on the open market despite showing well in a rotational role with the Rams last season. It didn't do much to rehab his value, however, as he's again settling in the second wave of free agency after inking a one-year pact with the Rams last March. Fairley should give the Saints' interior pass rush a nice jolt. They desperately need it.

Don't overpay for average. The DT position is loaded in the draft. Take note of the Patriots passing.

We have no idea of the circumstances; all we've heard is that the Patriots are out.

It could be that Fairley's agent has told the team that the Saints and Fairley have worked out or are very close to working out a deal and they are not interested in the Patriots anymore...

And what you call average is better than what we have on the roster

Well it looks like he WANTED to come here. Passed on the Pats. Texans and Eagles is a no brainier.

1 year, 3 million per ESPN

We had to either cut someone or we've re-structured someone.

Love it. Make him play for a contract. Now all we need to do is get Jarran Reed and A'Shawn in the draft along with some oline and DB's. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm happy where we're at right now. # 10 Defense and #2 offense wins Superbowls people!

Drew and Byrd will restructure giving us plenty of cap space to sign everyone else we need or want too!

You win in the trenches. If we draft one of the many DT/DE prospects in this draft our front 7 will be drastically improved (on paper of course).
Some may disagree, but John Jenkins did not play badly last year. Adding Fairley and a DT at #12 will certainly make us stronger up the gut.

That we did. As we do every year, and as many keep forgetting, we address holes in free agency setting up BPA in the draft.

This is now the 11th year of doing so.

I had a good feeling he would sign & I'm very happy about this. The upcoming draft will be alot of fun this year!

This won't be popular, but I'm still intrigued by Robert Nkemdiche.

Thomas Morestead has a 4.5 cap number which is about 3.5 mil too much for a guy not named Ray Guy...

And two draft picks for a punter (when you only had 4 to start with) is also too much.:p

His stock has dropped a bit but still a solid pro prospect. Not sure if the Saints target Robert though.
Then again, who knows.

Re: New Orleans Saints sign DT Nick Fairley

This is a Patriots type move and a very good one at that

1 year "prove yourself" deal for 3M

If this lights a fire then he's worthy of an extension, if not then we (hopefully) have drafted a DT to replace him.

This is true... problem is we have yet to actually improve the positions lately, we just thought we were.

if morestead gets that money he has to be having a fling with toms daughter, or wife, lol I know hes good but come on, he had a little erratic year didn't he.

They reported yesterday on BSPN that he frequently takes plays off. That does not bode well at the next level.

I think all Robert needs is some coaching up & solid mentoring.

If he falls to the 2nd, someone is getting 1st round talent on the D line. I'd be surprised if he isn't gone on day 1 of the draft.
