Drew Brees says NFL can't be trusted, thought Deflategate was 'dead issue'

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Reading this, many questions cross my mind: 1) Like how unfair it is that this scandal involving Brady and the Patriots and Brady is the only one punished whereas in Bounty Gate our coach got a 1 year suspension. WTF?! ...

2) The Pats and the Saints practice together. Did this influence the way Drew Brees perceived this whole thing?

3) That Drew Brees ( for all his right-wing cred ) generally sides with the players union.

4) I find it curious that most fans seem to be OK with football players being part of a union -- but -- in most of the rest of the US -- unions are vilified as Communism. Why is that?

I'm not even gonna talk about the Goodell angle -- because we all know what that's about.

Patriots were stripped of their first round pick; inflation technician was dismissed; no evidence to show Belichik had knowledge nor attempted to cover it up...

Like sitting in the hot tub together or warm showers kinda thing?!? No, the common thread is that there is no true due process which to resolve such conflicts or allegations; same way we received the Bountygate Beatdown...

Well, that is who (NFLPA) is currently acting in his interest; he'll sing a different tune when he rolls his NFL earnings into well-advised investments and eventually follows suit of former NFL player, now Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson and Brees owns his own team; be curious if it comes full circle and Brees snipes some young, upstart mouthy quarterback as Richardson did Brees in the last CBA negotiations...

Unions become vilified because the financial interests of its members may not always be in the general interests or concerns or the country or its citizens or consumers; example, MLB could really use a drug/performance enhancer testing, a salary cap, partially non-guaranteed contracts (e.g. Pablo Sandoval), but that union runs the league and has run the game into second place behind the NFL despite ruling the roost of professional sports for nearly a century; but I wouldn't say many here are all warm and fuzzy for the NFLPA ...

A privileged *****, appointed within a power vacuum, with no accountability but to good ole boys who want the big checks to continue to roll in, uninterrupted, with the table set everyday, the same way...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

"Patriots were stripped of their first round pick; inflation technician was dismissed; no evidence to show Belichik had knowledge nor attempted to cover it up..."

That's not any where near enough. Payton didn't have knowledge of Bounty Gate either, right?

"Like sitting in the hot tub together or warm showers kinda thing?!?"

F-no! I just wondered if Drew was siding with the Pats in general because they scrimmage together and probably hang together some during off-season practice.

"No, the common thread is that there is no true due process which to resolve such conflicts or allegations; same way we received the Bountygate Beatdown..."

Of course, I understand and agree with his transparency and due process issues.

Good point. This union should be vilified too. They're the ones that accepted Goodall as the ultimate judge and jury. Goodall's a tyrant and the player's union gave him the power.
