This team desperately needs guard help. They didn't select the best player available, they selected a project, whom they hope they can coach up. This team has made a ton of mistakes in recent years, trying the project route.
How do you know he is a "project"? Because you heard some media type say so? How can you know that he isn't far closer than some believe. If he is so unknown how could people know he is a project. And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the main objective of a DE to get to the QB? How much coaching up does that take if you are already proficient at it?

Because he's from a college in canada, and there is nothing he has ever faced in his life that is close to what he will face now? Could that make him a project, maybe? And since when did calling someone a project mean that no one could know who he is? You think that's what constitutes a project? C'mon man, you can't be serious on that one.

And who said he was proficient at getting to the QB? He had five sacks last year, from what I can find on him. Against THAT competition.

He is absolutely, 100% a project, and if you try to argue any other way you are clearly trolling.

They are going with his athleticism, and banking on the hope that they can develop him. Maybe they will. I would have much preferred to see them take a guy like Connor McGovern, instead of a project. Why? Because guard is a need that is beyond pressing.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Re: Underwhelmed

I dont think CB was a big a need as the media do. Obviously we need a healthy Lewis but PJ Williams will be back this year and he was ranked as a late 1st rounder by talent. Lewis-Breaux-Williams-Swan and Bell can play there too.

I dont think the LB were there in depth this year. Alot of 220lbers

I think its Anthony-Laurinaitis-Robertson this year.
You cant fix all the holes in one draft unless youve got the trade bait like the Browns and Titans

Lets be honest
-----Robertson-Laurinaitis-Anthony
Jordan--Rankins--Fairley--Richardson

Looks far better than what was on the field last year

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

Im fine with all of that except Richardson... Richardson is a practice squad player at best, if he turns out to be the starter again I won't have much hope for the D.

One amendment: The speed rush package:

Jordan--Rankins--Fairley--Kikaha

Here's hoping to a lot of 3 and longs to get that package in...

Re: Underwhelmed

I dont get drafting safeties so high. You could have Ronnie Lott & the
'89 49ers secondary, but w/o a strong front 7, it does no good.

Conversely, you a strong front 7, can turn an average secondary into ball hawks.
Unless you can get a shutdown corner, secondary, to me, is.. secondary.

I want LBs

I am still trying to wrap my head around this move myself. The silly oh he mailed me tapes was sweet does not fly. he mailed them over night to make millions . sounds like a solid investment plan. Sorry SP he mailed them to all 32 teams on the same day. you got spammed.

Re: Underwhelmed

Yeah i reckon you now get the Brees extension and Evans and Kevin Williams brought back in. Both would make sense another id like to kick the tires on is Sammie Lee Hill NT(former Titan/Lions)
