I'm just lost as to why they didn't select a guard with that last pick. As soon as I heard them say we had traded up, I thought surely they had to be doing that because they desperately needed a guard and saw someone they wanted.
Instead they drafted Sasquatch. |

Re: Underwhelmed
Why draft a guard just to draft a guard? Payton said after the second round that he was disappointed they hadn't added a guard yet. That tells me that they didn't have a guard that they felt was worthy on their board when their pick arrived. I would hope they would pick BPA over reaching.

This team has made a ton of mistakes in recent years, trying the project route.

And who said he was proficient at getting to the QB? He had five sacks last year, from what I can find on him. Against THAT competition. He is absolutely, 100% a project, and if you try to argue any other way you are clearly trolling. They are going with his athleticism, and banking on the hope that they can develop him. Maybe they will. I would have much preferred to see them take a guy like Connor McGovern, instead of a project. Why? Because guard is a need that is beyond pressing. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
